My wife and I re-financed in '05, and did some work on the house. When it was time to start the kitchen, she/we used the rest of the cash for a motorcycle! It was a fathers day present! So I've been riding around on Laurie's kitchen for a few years now!

Anyways, we've been together 23 years and in this house for 20, so it was way time to make this right!

Here's a couple of before...

And here's part of a honey-do-list done! :yahoo: All new cabinets and appliances with new windows and fixtures. I managed about 85% of the work myself and had a great time. Had to look at it like an art project to keep inspired. It's very trying, on a family of four, to do a kitchen remodel!

Now I have plans for the master bath.

But in the mean time, I need some fresh air! Thus plans are in motion for a ride around the state! :yahoo:

Man that looks really nice, good job. I did the bathroom this year, down to studs then build back up and put in a tub enclosure. I don't have the skill or patience for a kitchen like that. I'm envious, and if my wife were to see these pictures she would be too. :p

Geez, it's not like it needed it!!!!

That tile countertop just had to be a royal PITA to clean. Besides being uglier than beemerdon's face smeared with a dirty diaper's contents.

Too true. I had done all the other rooms in the house except the kitchen and half bath.

We are really enjoying the new space. All the shelves are pullouts and all the drawers are soft/self closing. We didn't have plumbing for an ice maker before either. My Mother-in-law pushed me for that, so I owe her again!

Great redue. I love the new look. I redid my kitchen after the earthquake many years ago. I designed it and had a couple guys custom build the cabinets and install them. I did the demo myself and moved the half wall 8 inches so I could get 2 lazy susans on the ends.

I redid the master bath when we first moved in 20 years ago and we added on the front of the house 5 years ago. The contractors were bozos, so we fired them and the wife and I finished things up ourselves. Now that I am older, I just want to ride. I wish I still had the energy for projects. Good on you and keep up the good work.

Having had a custom cabinet shop myself for many yrs., I can say that is a beautiful kitchen. Job well done Redtail. And I'd say you've earned yourself several great bike trips. Heck the kitchen is so nice, the "boss" most likely won't notice when you're gone.

1). Both sisters are married. <_<

2). Yes, we christened the counter already!

3). Even though I did most of the Labor, it was still scary expensive!

Thanks again Dad for teaching me to use a hammer! :clapping:

You should have hung out at your local homedepot and waited for the kitchen crashers and had done for free.. :construction

Nice job

I especially like the treatment of replacing the water bottles with a tastefully placed book with a vase and flowers

WOW what a great job. Ouch to the wallet. I really like the overhead exhause fan over the stove. Colors are great and the brushed stainless fits in seamslessly (sp?). Quite an undertaking. I bet it covered more than a couple of weekends.
