If possible I'd like to get that chrome piece and paint it's outside satin black.

It looks like the outside is a clear shell, and then within that there is the orange lens and towards the rear of the bike there is a chrome piece. The parts diagram doesn't break it apart however.

I'm doing some black out on my 08 - Garauld painted the tank collar in matching color and I bought a satin black powder coated backrest and luggage rack from him. I've painted some of the screw heads with satin black Krylon. And I've got black NR luggage.

Looks pretty nice, but that's just my opinion.

get some pics up.

I will when I get the luggage rack (should be anyday know), figure out the removable mount for the NR tail bag, and get those turn signals done. End fo the summer.

The Gen 1 signals come apart. Not close & personal w/ gen 2's. I believe that the folks that I've spoken with about the blinkers soaked them in gas to get the pieces apart. It does take some coaxing to get them apart.

I think that those silver "parts is parts" that you're talking about serve a purpose, though. Doesn't the silver reflect to allow the light from the blinker to be brighter & dispurse further?

It might just be me, but the more visible that I am, the better.

Maybe I hadn't thought about that but the light goes forward, reflecting off the inside of the chrome housing and I'm going to paint the outside of the housing.

In any case, I live in a very rural area and visibility to other cars is not much of a concern. My odds of being taken out by a deer are probably much higher than odds of being hit by a car. Hence the aux lights I'll put on eventually.

If it takes soaking these parts in gas to separate them, I'm too lazy for that.
