The 2008 is by far, hands down the best ever made. That should make your decision easy to make. The 2006 is the most blue however......and the 2007 is the most red.........and the 2009 is the blackest. And, I dont know anything about the 1st generation bikes except your balls will be the most red, black, and blue from the heat. There you go, now make it happen!

I'm calling BS on this post.

I've put 40,000+ miles on my Gen I '04 and my balls are the same saggy, wrinkled, sharpei-lookin' things they've always been.....

Imagine two of these, living under a sequoia:

I knew someone "had to." I just wanted to see who was going to be first. :D

Everything I do here I do for a reason. You've just moved up 3 points on my "list," setting the bar for everyone eles. :finger:

All,

Thank you for me as well. Besides enjoying the silly banter this is a question I've been curious about myself. I also don't care for the black 2008/ 2009 paint jobs. It sounds like I can buy an 06 or 07 and not feel to deprived missing out on the improvements in the 2008 bikes. Besides, the 2006/7 bikes fit my budget better.

I still did the throttle spring unwind on my 08, it required way too much effort. It still has more than enough tension.

The way I understand the modifications to the brake system, they are less linked to allow more rear braking without applying the front. This should help in low speed parking lot situations where you might just want the rear brake.

The FI system supposedly got a tweak to eliminate surging at low RPMs.

This is the first bike I ever had that didn't need modification to run right.

My trans was notchy and finicky till I did the clutch soak AND relubricated the linkage itself which was somewhat sticky and didn't fully return on it's own. If they supposedly made the trans smoother for 08 I'd hate to see what it was like before.

In spite of some glitches, the best bike I've ever had, and by far, the most advanced.

Appearantly the biggest difference is the 09 is slower, I think the black paint on the 09 was made from straight lead as the 09 wieghs alot more than the previous bikes. So its obviously slower.
