OCfjr has it right. If you are looking for a labor of love then this might be a good start, but not at the prices they are asking. The "resellers" have an inflated view as to what the bike is worth.

My '04 was forced over a cliff and tumbled 150', then dragged up the hill by the towtruck. The paid me $10K+ but wanted $7500 for the wreck???????? Mufflers, wheels, handlebars, fairings, bags, tank and forks were all damaged. The rear sub-frame was broken and the front sub-frame was folded up. Where DO they get their ideas of value.

Save your time, effort and money and wait for a good used FJR.

Lots of servicable, good quality FJRs out there in that price range. For a parts bike like you described, I'd sure not pay more than a grand. Then only if it was convenient to go pick up by tossing into the back of my truck.

In most cases it would depend on the state's policy on clearing a salvaged title. In some places, no matter what you do, it will always have a salvaged title. In other areas, you can go through a riggorous process and get the salvage cleared and have a clean title (more value to the bike after the investment).
