It is time for me to give back something to this forum. I have now had my 07 FJR for a little over a year. Those that have seen my FJR, know that I have installed a lot of farkles to make it my ideal long distance riding bike. Over the next coming months I will be publishing posts on my personnel blog for all my various farkle modifications. Most of the ideas are not my own and were gathered from various posts on this forum as well as specific FJR websites. My hope, is that collecting and writing about all my various upgrades may be beneficial for all those interested on this forum as well as others interested in LD riding.

My first post is on Aux. Lighting. Enjoy.

How to: Aux Light installation on FJR

Thanks for the post, Perry. Looks like you know what you're doing and you do good work.

I'll be glad to see whatever you add as time goes on.

oh no.... He's going to add more? I think what Perry said was he is going to document all his farkles and do a write up on each one. That should keep him writing untill spring.

What I should do is get him over to do my wiring.... Steve and Rob sure wanted to pull on my nice wiring job.... "what's this for?" "What's that for?"

Anytime..... just call. Remember...it really is your fault that I got involved in all this insanity in the first place. Has my wife had a chance to personally thank you yet? :clapping:

For those that do not know..... I met Tom at the side of the road on his FJR by chance many years ago. I was riding a 91 Honda Nighthawk at the time. Tom shared with me that he a ridden down to P.A., USA and back in the same weekend. I was floored at the time. How was that possible? Well that got me athinkin... Next thing ya know, everyone else is a millionare taken all my money on farkles!

heheh.. good times, good times...

I'm just glad the EPA didn't send out the goons because your bike pissed all over Missoula.

At the time I didn't think so but you are right looking back on it now ... YES good times!

"Effective long distance riding means that you will be riding many hours at night. Being able to see a hazard, like deer feeding in the ditch, is important."

Coming into Taos near midnight, through the mountains and construction found me leading with my Hella's. Funboi (Rob) riding my lights, and Tonto (Tom) taking up the rear with his Solteks. Rob will vouch for this, we saw a heard of 'somethings' crossing the road in front of us just outside of Taos that was right at the end of the effective point of the Hella's. Good thing for the range those puppies have, because it was probably 1/8th of a mile ahead of us. Plenty of time to slow down in case they were doing a deke maneuver.

I had a bit of buyers remorse after I bought them, ya, they were cool and really could spew out the lumens, but how often was I going to use them.

Turns out a lot.

Perry, thanks for taking the time to do this.

If it isn't already a well known fact among this forum group, it certainly is among the long distance riders: Perry's FJR setup is second to none when it comes to long distance riding.

Clean, neat, tidy, complete, well-thought-out are all acurate descriptions of his work.

Keep the info coming...maybe I can steal an idea or two!
