Yep, I replaced a front signal lamp on my '04 but it has been so long ago I forgot how. That's the problem with having an almost perfect, maintenance free bike, along with being old and forgetful. Yes, along with others I ripped everything out behind the engine, to inspect for greased splines, bushings, etc. because a scare that the factory wasn’t doing a good job. It was a waste of time because everything was fine. So from then on just change the oil & filter every 4k mi. It’s got 60k mi on it now & runs like new. One of these years I’ll even do a valve check (probably not).

I did however have to change one of the front signal lamps & I forgot how to get to it. Got to do it again so help me out-which pieces of plastic to remove or tell me where to find the info.

Thanks, De

Just the three Philips head screws and the plastic 1/4 turn fastener where the plastics mate If I recall correctly De.

A bit of twisting/finagling and the panels come off.

Pretty much what Bust said. The black plastic panel inside the front fender well is what needs to be removed. Once that's out, it's a simple bayonet fitting on the bulb base, just rotate and it will come out. Pull the bulb, install a new one and installation is the opposite of removal. You may find it difficult to get the brake side panel back in, but some wiggling of the panel usually gets it past the foam and in where it needs to be.

60k and no valve check? That's just plain crazy if you ask me. I'm sure your FJR will run fine right up to the point it won't run anymore.

Thanks, guys. I did it so long ago I just forgot. The dang thing is so dependable, I just ride it. Oh yea, I did wash it once or twice but that was also so long ago, I have forgotten how to do that too. Guess I've gotta start frequenting this board, like I used to back when!

ScooterG-you still here too? I made it thru the ticking with no ticks so what the heck. I'll get around to it one of these winters. Right now I'm bringing back to life a '89 PC800 that did an end over after the returning rider ran off a perfectly good road. Guess It just wouldn't turn. I'm in my 16th year of teaching classes and I've heard it many times. "Darn bike just wouldn't turn" I tell em, "yep, there will be plenty of trees to stop you if you run off the road up in our North Georgia mountains." I've even had one rider e-mail me back (After his broken leg healed) to tell me that I was right about the trees! Later, De :)
