How water tight are the hardbags?

I've gotten water in my gas tank from the last storm here in NorCal, but my bags have not let in any water. Enjoy your trip!

Cool. I work in the controller's office: manager, controls and accountability. Hey, how about the BS of not being able to expense your motorcycle mileage on UC (or any state) business?! We need to get organized and overturn that!
Interesting, what's your salary?

Oh yeah, and my bags have never leaked from the outside in.

I've never had mine leak either and I've ridden through some hellacious rain storms. But as a precaution, I usually wrap everything that goes in the cases in plastic bags before putting into the bag liners....that way even if it does leak my clothes stay dry. I got into that habit when I had my old V45 Sabre since it didn't have side cases and I was using a set of Eclipse mesh saddle bags that tended to leak like a sieve and it sort of stuck :)

On the 9th I'll riding up to UC Santa Cruz for some buisness and expect to ride through some rain. Will my change of clothes and stuff stay dry?
My ride was canceled by the wife…. Due to weather concerns. :angry2:

Go ahead... lets hear it

Rain? You're cancelling your ride because of rain? Wow. This is so open to brutal comments that I'm suffering option paralysis. C'mon people, help me out. Is it because the rain will make the flowers on your Easter hat droop?

I can actual beat that "Spousal Disagreement Event".

Mentioned to my wife Sunday about vague, tentative desire to drive from Florida to California just "because".

Here's what I got back....

"I don't care...do what you want. But YOU are in charge of making arrangements to have your body shipped back east."

:dribble: :dribble:

HUH!!

Then she called me at the office yesterday to tell me how inconsiderate I was being to plan a trip thousands of miles from home, and how she, being sure I would die from accident or misadventure, would be SO inconvenienced to have to leave home, go to some God-forsaken corner of the world, reclaim my stiffening corpse, and have to haul it home.

:dribble: :dribble:

After 38 years, I have completely stopped trying to figure out this insane woman.

I do believe that trumps your "my wife won't let me ride 'cuz it might rain."

I'd really appreciate one or more of the Forum ladies to jump in on this...

Damn Howie. What's your problem? She gave you permission to go.

   Been married 28 years....can't agree more. Just awesome......

One of the many reasons I'm not married. It always starts out "oh! the bike is soooo cool!" and a couple months later "it's me or the bike!" and every single time I say "hey, I've had the bike a lot longer, and it's a better ride too!"

hay Scoot: there's this discussion of a cross country ride to Kali...meet Tyler and some of the west coasters...

AIW: "well Mike, are you gonna go with somebody...I know you don't like to tour alone"

Yeah, sounds like at least Howie from Florida is thinking about it. He's the other guy with the engine swap. He even did it himself in his garage.

AIW: "that sounds good...he's got real mechanical ability...might come in handy"

so this sounds doable?

AIW: "if you are comfortable with it, so am I...we both know we need a break every couple months from each other. it's overall a good thing if you head out for some nights away and you always call me each day to check in. Last May's Run For The Wall ride was, how long?, 12 days, right. That was a long time and I missed you, but you came home to me so excited. I was proud of you and what you contributed and got out of that ride."

now all that sounds good and my 33k miles last year seemed not to be a bad thing in our relationship, but I still get a brief, queasy feeling I have it too good to be true. She also says it makes her feel guilty to spend money, and I remind her of Christopher Reeve in his prime.

I just don't know...

I finally made the trip to Santa Cruz. The bike handles very well in the rain, which it did, a lot. The hard bags do not leak, very happy about that. So I’m thinking the bike has gotten dirty and is officially broken in.

Dayam Howie, I'm on the wife's side on this one. Be a little considerate, have arrangements made to cremate your corpse! Then all she has to cart back home is a couple of little boxes. Even less if you're ok with a nice burial at sea or convenient rhododendron near the hotel.

I'm with OC on this one. Can't believe you would be so damn inconsiderate
