The HSTA rally TriStar is located in Sparta, NC in northwest North Carolina's Blue Ridge Mountains, nestled between the New River and the Blue Ridge Parkway, offering scenic vistas, unspoiled landscape and friendly folk. We are excited to be hosting the fifth annual event over Memorial Day Weekend.

This rally is named Tri-Star because, while in North Carolina, you’re only a few miles from the States of Virginia and Tennessee. You may have noticed a current article in the June 2008 issue of Rider magazine titled “Riding the Snake” which highlights some of the riding attractions of this area.

So come and enjoy the scenic beauty and miles and miles of great twisty mountain roads.

See registration form for event fees and pre-registration discount. Join us for a Friday evening cookout and Saturday evening BBQ dinner.

You must be an HSTA member to participate in this event.

If you are a new (not renewal) member you will receive a free one year membership to HSTA when you register for this event.

For more information: HSTA Website

There are lots of things to do in the area for those not interested in riding.

This will be a great way to spend your Memorial Day Weekend.

New for 2008: Demo rides!

Demo Rides added this year for Sunday, May 25.

Piedmont Motorsports is bringing several of their demo bikes to Sparta.

The demo selection may change but for now the KTM SuperDuke990

and KTM Adventure990 bikes are expected to be available for demo

rides Sunday, May 25.

Linky needs repair. No worky.

Jeff,

Linkies repaired! Thanks for the heads up!!

Went to Texas Hill Country, Big Bend NP, and Ozarks with 21 Zumo routes. It was fantastic.

GPS is a fabulous new deal for motorcycling. Can't wait for EOM and the chance to ride your W VA routes.

TriStar was one of the many HSTA events I went to last year, and enjoyed it very much. I'm hoping to make it again this year, but an out-of-the-country vacation that starts just a few days later may put a crimp on it. Galen and Flo put on a great event that I highly recommend.

If you're not yet hooked up w/ HSTA, you're missing the best bargain that exists in Sport-Touring. This is NOT your fathers MC club... These guys (and gals) ride, ride, and ride some more.

I went for a ride yesterday up on the BRP. On my way up, two guys fell in behind me on bikes. One pulled up beside me at a stop light and we chatted for 15 secs. or so...nice guy. They invited me to the weekend, but I have other committments this weekend (my son incoveniently scheduled his birth on 25 May, 1995, so this weekend is planned for me forever!). I have been out of the loop for a while, so I didn't even know about this event. This ride will be a blast! I have relatives in Sparta and go there a few time a year. If you can make it there will be good rides. I'll be there in my mind as I drive my cage filled with kids to event after event this weekend. :dribble:

Ratchman,

Sorry you couldn't make it. I thought we had great roads in N GA; but man, I was blown away today. We did 5 hours on the roads with a group of 6. These roads are so curvy that I couldn't see the lead rider more than a half dozen times when we were in the twisties. 77 participants and 70 bikes are here for the rally. The area is surrounded by mountain chains and numerous roads rise from the New River Valley with continuous elevation changes and curves galore. This is an absolute rider heaven. Folks from 12 states have come together for this event with Ohio people taking the attendance crown.

Y'all come see us! Next event for sure.

Gasportrider,

Shhhhhhh.... We don't want EVERYONE to know! ;)

Seriously, I feel very fortunate to be so close to such great riding.

I would love to ride with you guys next time.

Ratchman,

Here's a few photos from Burke's Garden in Virginia, Highway 215 in NC, and the rally site in Sparta, NC. We were riding too fast and too far to stop for photos on our group ride. We covered some serious ground in 5 hours!!

This year's 2008 Eastern Owner's Meeting is very near Sparta, NC with in Lewisburg, W VA. Then, next year's 2009 STAR is going to be in Staunton, VA about another 75 miles north. It looks like I'll acquire about 30 Garmin routes of this fabulous riding area that will become TRISTAR ++.

Great pics! Thanks for sharing. I recognize the Allegheny Inn. My mom's cousin is the owner. We have a reunion there later this month. I planned to ride up on my bike the day before, but my wife is not willing to drive the mountain roads (US 21) to Sparta <_<

Great pics though. I'm still glad I live here. I'll get up that way for at least one more ride this summer.
