Hubert Kriegel Passed Away

Hubert Kriegel died on 01/24/2018 of an aortic dissection in Sacramento, CA.

Hubert road vertically and horizontally around the world on a Ural. He was a very interesting man. His web site documenting his travels is hands down the best site adventure travel site covering 13 years. I have been following his travels for years now - read every page every story. By reading his web site I decided world travel was not something I wanted to do - I learned I didn't have the patience for it.

This man definitely lived to the beat of a different drummer - one most of us likely would not understand.

He will be missed.

I will have to read more about him, as he sounds very interesting.

I used to have a Vstrom and took it off pavement occasionally. I did a bit of Washington State Backroad Discovery route, the gravel road between Stampede Pass and Naches road, Lolo Trail Motorway, Magruder Corridor, Warren Wagon road and a couple off pavement roads in Utah and Oregon. Along the way I learned about Horizons Unlimited an adventure travellers how to web site. I found Hubert's travel blog on the Horizion Unlimited web site. Hubert owned a graphic arts firm in New York for a while and leveraged his design skills to create his terrific blog.
