Just heard countless sirens rolling outside the office here in Wilson, NC...we go out to look and it turns out some fellow on a cruiser got smacked by a car about a block down the street. Can't tell the model of bike, but it is a cruiser based on the amount of chrome I can see. Our office neighbor drove by it on the way in here and said it looked like the guy might be ok (who knows...). Hopefully, that is the case. Apparently a conflict occurred in the center turn lane (which people like using as an extended 3rd lane around here). I'll have to dig around for more info.

I always cringe when riding to work here...this town's drivers seem like the most distracted, "in a hurry" bunch I've seen and if you're head isn't on a swivel, it'll get knocked off real quick. I ride in during the parental mad-rush to drop the kids off at school...one of the intersections has an uncontrolled left turn. Those parents WILL turn left in front of you almost 100% of the time if they think they have an iota of a chance.

Ride safe!

You've not visited Boston and environs; some of the worst drivers in these United States. (Hence my less attractive day-glo jacket.) And everyone will turn left in front of you at an intersection. They suck.

Gunny! MA has the worst drivers I've seen!
In New Bedford I saw that little trick a couple times. The light turns green and the guy in the left turn lane across from you turns left before you go! :dribble:

I'm not sure I would want to ride a bike there.

Yea, I'll give you Boston, lol. I remember a few months back when I had to rent a land yacht there to shuttle my wife's boss' kid out to Mt. Hermon school for the summer program. Wild drivers to be sure..
