I'm tossing around the idea of getting one of the last Husky Terra 650s. Anyone have any thoughts or experience with these critters that you would like to offer?

Husqvarna has not built a reliable bike since moving out of Sweden. Even BMW could not sort them out. It might as well be a POS Fiat 500.

A guy on my ST1300 forum has one and loves it. He lives in NC I think and last I heard was still enjoying the honeymoon phase of the bike. Since I am desperately wanting some sort of dual sport, he and I communicated a bit about that bike. He had nothing but positive things to say.

Of course, you can't go by that. He (like me) rides an ST1300 so he is not considered a reliable source...

The big issue up here in the Great White North is getting parts. There is no longer a true Canadian distributor so all the parts come up from the states and there has been instances where folks have lost months of riding time waiting on a part that should have taken a few days.

A good friend that has since passed away used to be a Husqvarna dealer and also had his own auto repair business. He knew Huskys inside and out and always stocked the parts that were known to be wear items. Dave always had the parts I needed and was only 1-1/2 hours away. He would work on the Huskys after the auto shop had closed business for the day and there was many a night that we would be in the shop after midnight getting Huskys ready to race for the next weekend. Customer service like that is long dead now.

Cafe Husky is a great resource for all things Husky. From what I've read the Terra and Strada are some of the most Japanese (read no-fuss) bikes pumped out by Husky in recent history. My biggest concern would be how the recent sale of the company will impact parts, sales and service in the future. So Cal has a couple great Husky vendors and long time innovators for Husky aftermarket. Aftermarket has been a problem because they change the models so often the big names can't justify part runs.

My carbed 2007 TE-450 has been drop dead reliable despite my efforts to ride it into scrap.

I bought a Strada in May and LOVE it! I've since added a set of spoked wheels to make it a Terra and riding it more often right now than the FJR. Yes, it's going to be an orphan made for only one year and nearest dealer is 300 miles. But the price for the features is phenomenal. It had enough snort and packing ability to trounce the 2x cost of an F800GS and run circles around it off road.

See my blog in my sig for posts about it.

Cafehusky.com is the equivalent to this forum for the model.

Many thanks for the Husky 650 detailed information in your blog Matt, gave me the additional insights/backgrounds I needed. Like Neil San Diego, I also am going to pick up an "orphan" Husqvarna 650 Terra. The older that Papa Chuy gets, the lighter the off road machines he buys! Pretty soon, I will be on a Honda Trail 90 - AGAIN!!!

Tylor gave me these article links and said with KTM buying Husky his parent company here in Arizona Ride Now will be carrying the brand, any replacement parts or service can now be performed at the Chandler MotorSports Dealership where I bought my 2013 FJR here in AZ.

We have a Husky/KTM/Ducati dealer here in town. The sales person assured me that they would continue to support the Husky Terra/Strada. I'm just waiting for them to call me when the last couple of Terras make it to their store.

Well, I put a deposit down last night on the last Terra in the area. We sold the Bimmer F800ST to make room for this critter. I should pick it up in a couple of weeks. A whole new breed of farkles to worry aobut now...

Congratulations Neil, put a thousand miles on the Terra and give us all a consumer report!

WOW Only $6,500 is incredible!

I know somebody with one and he loves it. Keeps talking about it doing more/stronger/faster/better than the other 650s.

I hear you on the lighter bikes.

I may once again over-do something by going sub-200 pounds. It turns out that we have a trials club nearby that's mostly - ahem - more "learned" riders.

If I can't break my arm going fast, I'll bet I can do it going slow.
