Just made my reservations for Hyderseek 2010! I am new to LD riding and have gained

from the advice of others, and as far as the "company" attending- this should be a bank

vault of great advice and many experiences of the road. I will do the ride (48plus) and

am adding miles for the 10/10ths. I am wondering if there are any riders from the forum

going? Anyone considering the ride? I know it is early, but this ride has been on my mind

since doing the 100CCC. I also hope to meet some members along the way.

I have always wanted to do this ride! It's just so damn far away and hard to plan for.

I am sooooo jealous.

Skooter you could do the Hyder AZ to Hyder AK ride, IIRC the IBA time frame is 48 hours. You should be jealous it a heck of a good time up there. I've been 4 times to Hyder 3 to Hyderseek.

You've got crash space at my place any time you need/want it Skooter. About half way to Hyder.

I've been before, (3x), but will probably go again in 2010. I decided last time to go on the spur of the moment and still managed to get a room in Stewart w/o much trouble. I didn't buy into the event. FWIW, that's gotten a little spendy for a good banquet meal, a so-so burgers and dogs meal, a nice shirt and a raffle. Heck, I couldn't afford to do one of Ron's very cool trips even if I won. Airfare, gas and mid day food would be too much $$ for my current budget.

Besides, the Seafood Express, (a.k.a. 'The Bus'), has better food!

I usually ride from Portland, OR to P.G. the first day, then the rest of the way up to Hyder the next day. This avoids the critters at night up North and allows me to enjoy the scenery, which is outstanding.

That's on my list...Hyderseek either with or without the 48 states. It's one of those "must rides" for the LD Rider. Let's see

SS1K

BBG

50CC

48/10

NPT

24 hr rally

multi day rally

IBR

Hyderseek

Gerlachfest

Jax pizza party

IBA National

I figure if you can pull off all of that, you've done it.

I looked it up, and it's officially called the Hyder to Hyder 2.4. You have 2.4 days = 57.6 hours = 57 hours and 36 minutes to go from Hyder, AZ to Hyder, AK. So far, only 14 riders have been certified as completing this ride.

I'm going to Hyder Seek next year, but not doing any Iron Butt rides.

I went 3 years ago, but did it in my cage I had just gotten out of a cast for a broken wrist a week before and through my wrist would not be strong enough for the ride. That same year I was planning on doing the Hyder to Hyder ride.

Had a great time, but in the cage not as fun as it would have been on my bike.

After Hyder Seek I plan on going up the Cassiar and then back down the ALCAN and get the bonus dam in northern BC for the Dam Tour.
