Thanks guys, I appreciate all the comments and suggestions. I'm gonna send him a link to this post and let him get edumacated. :)

The Yugo was basically a FIAT (128?) sold, presses & other machinery, to Yugoslavia -- to be manufactured there. Alot like the LADA which was sold to U.S.S.R. and was old FIAT designs (124, 131, etc.). These were not bad cars -- just the butt of jokes by Americans. You may wish for cars like these.... someday in the future?
.....EDIT.....

Hijack filter engaged....must go elsewhere!!!

The Hyosung GV650 is not a Suzuki SV650. Miles apart in fit, finish and engineering, not to mention fun and resale value.

I have an 03 SV650S in addition to my 05 FJR and I would consider selling the FJR before the SV. The SV possesses something intangible, something like the 92 Honda VFR750F I now regret selling.

To the FJR hardcore I offer this: the bike is a mile-eater and supremely competent but it doesn't move me like the SV or the VFR. Which bike do I pick for a cross-country trip with big twisty miles thrown in? The FJR no doubt. Just twisties? :D I'm going to the SV or the VFR (I just matched that bike*).

* Never, ever sell a bike you're in tune with.

Edited for spelling.

Friends don't let friends buy cruisers!

I much prefer new riders in the more upright seating position. Better visibility for the rider and easier to balance. Most of these bikes are just over 6K list (as high as $7) and have real suspensions and brakes. And better power delivery than the HD wanna be v-twins.

Suzuki SV650, GSX650, V-strom

Kawasaki Versys, Ninja 650

Outdated but still good learner's bikes:

Suzuki GS500 and Kawasaki EX500.

All kinds of on/off road bikes.

Got stuck behind one of these at a traffic light the other day...

...with a brand new dealer tag on it, so the rider may have been a complete n00b, but the bike stalled twice on him and wouldn't crank again after the 2nd stall.

DID smoke like a Poulan during the cranking attempts.

Oh, did I mention before the kid stalled it, it was vibrating like a paint shaker?

No thanks.

Edit: Oh, I just checked the Hyosung Dealer Finder....the dealer in my town is also a Ridley motorcycle, Star golf cart dealer and American Sportworks go-kart dealer.

I think I'd feel better buying one at Pep Boys.

Or WalMart.

:)
