Hey Guys!

OK, so do you have a guess on what this is?

Time's up!

I wanted to add HL's, but did not want to tap into any bike wires, either w/ posi-loks, or soldering etc.

So, I did see some guys pull the leads off the tail light harness plug mid-ship on the left side. Seems like they just un-plug the 6 wire connector, stuff in the HL wires, plug back together, and are good to go. I wanted a soldered connect for the HL wires, but not to any bike wires. So, I came up with an entirely new sub-harness to solder to.

I found a source for the bike's connectors (EasternBeaver.com) here on this site.

So I ordered a couple of the 6 cavity connectors, and got a bit of wire at work, and created a sub-harness to plug in between the existing tail light harness connector and the bikes harness.

Pretty easy to make, and just run some small wires off my sub-harness back to the Hyper-lights.

Photo 3: Plug into bike harness mid-ship, left side. My harness is the plug w/ writing on it, and the other end is right below it.

Photo 4: Run HL wires (grayish heat shrink tubing) back to the rear for hook up. Black wire is ground, yellow is brake circuit, blue is running lights (key on power).

So being a noobie here.....the question is....with a little work, am I worthy??

Or I suppose this has been done already but I have not found it in my searches. In that case, this was good practice for future photo embedded posts!

had trouble w/ my hosting site: repost photos.]

Super job! :clapping: Would you consider making another to sell to me? I would be interested. I'm so busy at work right now that I just do not have time to make one up, but I'd be glad to pay if you would consider making another one.

Hey Rick,

Sorry, I can't make you one up, I have plans for my other pair of 6 cavity connectors that I purchased (front end farkling project).

As you can see, it is a pretty simple job. I think it took me longer to take off the tupperware, and route the wires, put back on the tupperware, than it actually took to create the harness. Maybe took me half an hour to do the harness.

You'll need the connectors, some wire (I used 16 ga. for the harness wires, and 18 ga. for the wires running back to the Hyper-Lights).

Colors on the harness were green, black, brown, blue, yellow. Colors running to the Hyper-Lights were black, blue, yellow.

I'll have to add this to my list of things to get done. Very nice job and a great idea, Thanks
Rick,

Here is the page w/ the connectors. Look for the 6 cavity ones, '6 Pole 090K-SMHM Connector'.

Connectors

PM me w/ any other ?'s. :bye:

I can't say enough good things about Eastern Beaver. This is a first class company spesalizing in electrical connectors, wiring harnesses and supplies, specialty wiring connectors for GPS units, lighting systems and practically anything else you want to wire up. Many of Jim's wiring harnesses are purpose and bike spesific.

I want one too, but I'm too time compressed to make my own... (read lazy)

Brodie? Want to make up a handful? :)

Great idea! I want to add hyperlights myself, and I was considering the bulb replacement type to avoid splicing into my wiring ... but ideally I wanted the rear tail-light to remain lit ... this solves all my problems ... well, all the important ones anyway. Nice Job.
