How long did you have to wait for your Kimber? I've had an Eclipse on order since the end of January. I was told there was a 4-6 week backorder, but am going on 8 weeks now. I can't wait for it to get here. My first 1911 :yahoo:

I was quoted 4 *MONTHS* by the local dealer. So I started calling around. I found a couple up in PA at great prices. They wouldn't ship to Maryland because of all the barriers to purchase Maryland puts in place. Then I energized a guy in West Virginia who was looking around on my behalf. He came up with nothing after 3 weeks of trying. Then I just started cold-calling places Kimber lists as dealers on their website. The third call turned up this tiny gun shop in a strip mall that happened to have not one, but two on hand. I bought one of them (NIB) for $1400, flat. I was finding them as low as $1325 in Pennsylvania.

That said, almost every dealer out there is *completely* out of Kimbers and most everything else. The ammo situation around here is crazy. Then shelves at the local Bass Pro are cleaned out of just about *all* brass, in every caliber. What they did have was at least 15% more expensive than last year.

Good luck on the purchase. I've gotten a LOT of enjoyment out of Kimber 1911s over the last couple years. Just to play devil's advocate, I came across this thread when looking for Kimbers. That led to this set of pictures from Fusion MAN I like the looks (and build) of their stuff.

I work part time in a some what large gun / outdoor store....

Business has been Heavy since the election ,, They have cleaned us out of ammo ,

primers ,, guns ,, etc,,,

People are buying like crazy ,,, instead of coming in and buying a box of ammo ,,, they

are coming in and buying 3 cases of ammo... we get a skid of ammo in and it's gone in a week..

We got 3 cases of .380 the other day ( haven't had any for a couple months,,)

limited to one box per customer ,,, it was gone in a couple days,,,

I hope the scare is over SOON ,,, and things get back to normal....

I'm a target shooting and season is starting,,, this scare is driving up the cost of my sport..

Kimber is a first class firearm ,,, enjoy it ,, if you can find ammo......

You allowed to have firearms in MD ,,, some of those left wing liberal east coast ( & Calif.) states

have rather strict laws on firearms....

They seem to forget that the 2nd amendment ain't about Duck hunting,,,,,

Serious question here.... As a Canadian who hears the word "gun" only once or twice a year (October 1st is opening Day of Duck Season here) or when the term 'gun control' (as in removal of that process) comes up, I read these posts with a kind of morbid fascination.

My question is: why has business been "heavy since the election" and what "scare" are you talking about ?

It's not Friday and I'm not editorializing so please don't jump me. Just trying to stay informed ! (although it's just occurred to me that we're not supposed to be political on this forum and your reply may be political?? PM would work ?)

Yep!! what ionbeam said,,,, I guess everybody is stocking up in case they try to take them away,,,????

the anti-gunners are in power now ,,, lots of anti-gun legislation probably going to hit...

my son-in-laws ( one is a cop) ,, my two daughters ,,, and I go to shooting matches,, mostly handgun match

( I'll shoot rifles or shotguns when there's not a good pistol match to go to..)

We burn up 1000's of rounds of ammo a year ,,, just punching holes in paper or knocking down steel plates...

Just having Fun ...

Sort of like the price of gas going up to $10 a gallon ,,, would sort of slows down just jumping on the bike and riding just to

have fun..

Here are the Two Brothers Racing Dyno Charts 156 HP after pipe, 152 HP before. These numbers are similar to the Honda liter bike (chart available at the link above). The current Japanese HP king (....and here come the slug-fest comments about people who buy bikes based on HP numbers in 3....2.....1....) in the liter class is the ZX10R, at 175 HP (2008 model)

I have a new toy too! 1911 from another manufacturer...tooks weeks of calling around to find one. Ammo is getting hard to find and expensive. Thank heavens for the RBC press at my brothers...
