Hudson, congratulations on your new Husky! Are you looking at ways to increase the fuel capacity on your Husky? If you find a way to do it, please send me the info at [email protected] The TE310 would be a perfect bike for me on my Mexico off road adventures if it had a 4.5+ gallon fuel tank mounted on it! Beautiful moto!!
Here is what appears to be a fair and glowing review (except for some nits and the small fuel capacity):https://www.motorcycle-usa.com/135/5192/Mot...ike-Review.aspx
Yea, congratulations. Certainly seems (from the report) to be on the sporty side of dual-sport.

It usualy takes the aftermarket a little time to come-up with a larger tank -- in the Husky's case, the seat/tank combo thing may be an issue? 1.9 gal. could be a little small in big country? Acerbis makes a few aux. fuel cells -- and then there's always the 2 lt. pop bottle...

Don, if it's gas you want? -- get one of these (see pic) and throw-away the puny 5.8 gal. stock tank and source the pictured 10.5 gallon unit -- only about $1500 USD...

Looks like a giant bug -- praying mantis maybe? But I love Katooms except for the costs involverd. Having said that -- the Husky has a different niche, of light and flickable in the short haul. This baby above is for going 250+ miles without needing to pee...

I like them all unfortunately.

Don, check out Clarke they make lots of aftermarket tanks. I don't see one listed yet for the newer Husky, but that dosen't mean they don't have one in the works.

I have one of their tanks on my GasGas 300 and the fit and finish are excellent. I also had one on my old XR 650.

IMS makes oversized gas tanks for Huskies too, though not this model that I could find.

I might argue it would defeat the intent of the bike to weigh it down with too much fuel. Though "too much" is open to interpretation. Though even 3-4 gallons would get you 100 miles or so, extending the usefulness in remote areas. I hope the OP gives us some ride reports and how he thinks the fuel situation works for him. Congratulations again. I spotted the bike a month ago or so when Fred was looking for a light dual-sport, and posted a link in that thread. I am really glad we may get some first-hand reports on her.

I'm sure he will do some reports. I am going to get him out to explore the dirt side soon.

IMS does make a 3 gallon tank for the TE, check out this guy's page of his upgrades.

There is also a rack that bolts onto the rear and supports a flat, 1-2.5 gallon gas can. That said, I think the stock range on this bike is about 75 miles, and if you are on throttle hard, that would probably drop to 60 miles.

Sort of like Niehart's Ducati Monster....

I must be getting old(er). I missed that IMS tank when I searched. I believe the article/review I linked earlier mentioned the author got 50-60 miles to the stock tank. Sounded like he was hard on the throttle from what he described.

Auburn, drag him out onto the trails if you have to, I want to know if I need to sell my KLR next year :D .

Congrats and enjoy.

Wish I still had my 95 Husky.

Husky's putting some great product out now. FWIW: My local dealer, even during these tough economic times, says he's having his best sales in 30+ continuous years of dealing Huskys. Sales have skyrocketted since Sep '09-maybe the economy is picking up? Gives partial credit to the BMW takeover.

With any luck you will also enjoy your dealership post sale dealings way more than your average stealership experiences. Around here the niche brand dirt bike dealers; Husky, GG, Husaberg, KTM, etc., are passionate and knowledgeable about there product. They know how to support their racers/customers.

Let us know about you're fuel range. When I asked my dealer about the small tanks, he said the fuel injected bikes were more efficient and didn't need a large tank. BS?

No surprise that Auburn FJR stepped up. What a great guy. He said he'd show up with his pickup, but when I looked outside, I was pleasantly surprised.
Apparently he misunderstood and thought you were bringing a Husky dealership home. :)
I never got over 40 mph, but anytime I wanted to veer immediately off the highway and onto gravel or mud, I could. It was amazing how much fun you can have at under 30 mph,
Dirt freaking rules. Seriously, everyone, if you don't own a dirt bike you're robbing yourself of your own life. Go get one.
