Well, went to see the Doc today for hearing test and exam. After looking at it he said the eardrum IS healing but hasn't closed up completely yet <_< so off to the sound booth I go........ After that he says hearing loss(not much) is due to eardrum still having a hole in it. Once the hole is closed up everything should go back to normal. Best part is he signed me off to return to work too! I asked him if it was okay to wer earplugs/er6i's and showed thm to him, he not only said okay but that he encourages me to use them.

After that the RN :dribble: that was taking care of the testing faxed my return o duty paperwork to medical as I was running way late for my 2pm appt, told medical when the appt was and where and they still scheduled it just to be ****'s! I showed up at 3:15 w/ RTD paperwork in hand and the female medc that was there looked shocked that I made it in the amnt of time I did. She was cool though and told me to sign my RTD paperwork and have a seat while they called manpower to notify them of my glorious return!

While I was waiting she handed me the latest dept memo and told me read #5. I didn't get it at first until I read it, it spoke of using care w/ q-tips while on the job and something about needle sticks. While I was reading that I overheard the dork at the desk talking to manpower stating it was a DUTY RELATED INJURY :yahoo: !!!! Which means I don't lose any of my vacation days(furloughs) or holiday pay nor do I have to pay the HUGE ER bill they were about to send me, as well as if any complications in the future arise I won't have to deal w/ a huge hassle again!!!!!

But the best part is I just finished putting everything and anything on the bike that needed tobe done(other than tires) today, smitty's tank blanket came just as I was leaving for the Doc's office :yahoo: . So for now, I can make it to WFO-6, and I CAN RIDE MY FJR FINALLY!!!!! The only restiction I have is no water in the ear yet, so no swimming or soaking my ear in the shower for a little while longer, other than that, unrestricted!!!!!!!!

Congratulations ! You dodged a few bullets with that one, I'm sure the bill would've been, shall we say, substantial... Now go fill up that tank !

Congrats EVIL! Have a great ride! Wonderful news about not being dicked out of pay, bills and vaca, too!

"Back in the saddle, again...!"

Double CONGRATS Evil!

First on being up, being ABLE TO RIDE, and RTD.

Second, for running the Human Resource Department hurdles and getting this as a work-related injury.

I had a fall and was injured on-site in January 2003, WITH WITNESSES ALL AROUND, and it took nearly two years with lots of "you-gotta-be-sh*tting-me" before our agency office weenies gave me that classification!!! Turns out they had a new boss who unilaterally decided our injury rate was too high.

Ed,

It was pleasure meeting you. Enjoyed riding with you as well. Hope you got home dry. After stopping by my friend to give him a hand with his bike I got home just in time for sky to come down. It is pouring right now.

See you later.

Glad to hear you are back in the saddle - in more ways than one.

Chicago weather has been absolutely beautiful the last few days I have been here, so get out there and enjoy it. (Time for me to leave the Palmer House and take some of my own advice instead of typing in the room.)

The Cubs still suck though.
