:D Well, I can't believe I have finally laid down my deposit on the 2006 FJR 1300A. Went to my local dealer and was the first to be on the 2006 PDP and the boss didn't even know it was up and running. I'm really glad that after 3 years of looking and researching that I am on my way to broaden my horizon's. I've been riding the same HD Softail for 18 years and very much looking forward to a new and exciting departure for me. I'm still keeping the old girl though. She still looks like new and has been very good to me. I want to extend my thanks for this and other web sites and all who have contributed their advice and expertize on this great bike and those who helped me in my decission making. Looking forward to meeting and riding with some of you this next summer. I'm all smiles. :D Painman, Antioch, Ca.

Congratulations painman! You have no idea how much your are going to love this bike.

I sold my softail to buy my 04 FJR. Sure it was pretty, but now I ride, and ride often. You may be surprised by how little attention your softail will get once the FJR arrives.

It's gonna be a long wait, but well worth it.

And then................

the farkling begins!

ScooterG, this is really strange. I don't even have the bike yet and already I'm thinking of all the farkles I'm going to need. And what's worse, I'm thinking of buying them too. You guy's are putting bad thoughts in my mind. Let me see, freeway pegs, gps, tank bag, what you call them, slidders?, sattelite radio, oh the list goes on and on......... Painman.

Way to go Painman! I'd a feeling ya would !! Lot's of guys accumulate a stash of goodies while waiting.. makes the pain of waiting a little easier ! :D

Congrats, PainMan! Good choice on bikes. Yes, your softail may gather a bit of dust once the FJR comes in. However, she sounds like a faithful steed and friend, and I'm sure she's well worth holding on to.

Be careful buying some of those farkles up front. Some may NOT fit the '06. There are just enough changes to the fairings and such that some parts won't be interchangeable. I too have ordered an '06, and I'm gathering a farkle list, but I'm definitely holding off on some so that I can see what physically will and won't work on the '06. Many of the farkles on my '04 will be getting transferred. Soon as a couple of us get our 6's, we'll have a better idea what will and won't work.

Painman,

If you don't mind saying, what price did you negotiate? I'm trying to deal with local dealer..

The 06 AE can be had for $12,999, but $13,500 is common.........those prices include Freight and Dealer Prep....which you have to watch out for, as especially in many of the larger dealerships who've employed lying SOB Salesmanagers like new car dealerships do, who'll give you a price, than when delivered, tell you it didn't include Freight & Prep and that will be another $1,000 just to pad their own pockets......and if you don't want the bike tell them NOW as they've got someone right behind who who's willing to buy the bike for that price....

18 years on the same softail. now I understand 'painman' Just kidding. I owned a 71 wide glide for a couple years.

Farkles: I think its pretty normal to accumulate farkles while you're a waiter. I had quite a pile by the time my FJR arrived. The day I picked it up, I did the FJR1300.info (motoman-lite) breakin on the way home from dealer, proceeded to change oil and filter and get the tupperware off for the following mods within 4 hours of owning the bike: Fenda Extenda, Moko-Sliders. The Magnum Blasters followed a few days later.

It's a great bike. I wish you a speedy wait. Happy farkling planning!

You late bloomers have it made. Early adopters had to lobby for all those farkles!

All I can say is: Good choice. I'm 11,000 miles into my '05 and I am loving it! My only problem is that when more than two people are going somewhere I get stuck in a cage. Before the FJR, I had an old BMW. It clearly would outperform an HD in turns, however the FJR is so much nicer that I ride ALL THE TIME now instead of about 1/2 the time I am going somewhere. My FJR is my primary transportation and the last time I went to start my car, the battery was dead! lol

Have fun!

Oh, I'm also Northern Cal...see my id

Yes I think I did make the right decession on laying down the deposit on the 06 A. And waiting "is" the hard part. Regarding the price, I went to 3 different dealers in my area of northern CA. and each one really was unwilling to deal. I know some of you would tell me to tell them to take a hike, but really I just didn't want to hassel with getting the bike from out of the area. The dealer closet to me was the only one who would even come down a few hundred bucks so I just went with them mainly because they are close to me and if something comes up I can't work on they have an excellent service department. I have a disability as in arthritis of the spine and am limited on what I can do. This coming December I will be working the leather and helmet check at the Cycle World show in San Jose and hopefully will be able to test ride the "A" and at least check it out and get some particulars on what farkles and what nots can be done to the bike. We (CMA) also work at Infenion and the Moto GP in Montery. Anyway, looking forward to meeting up with some of you guys and possibly this coming July at WFO in Reno. Can't wait. Painman. <>< :cownoy:
