I started having problems concentrating a few months ago along with mood swings. Next I had trouble with stiff joints and climbing stairs. Then my right knee blew up like a softball. I went to my doctor and he drained the knee. He took one look at the crap coming out the knee and said he thought it was Lyme but he'd need blood test to be sure. Test came back positive. 30 days on doxycycline and the infection should be stopped. Guess what causes Lyme disease?

Back in 93 I didn't feel good for almost 2 years, I finally went to the doc after getting real sick and had a weak postive for lyme disease. Took the anti-biotics and thought my troubles were over. Well they wern't, I spent a full year lying on the couch (crushing fatigue) I devoped all kinds of pain in my neck and burning pain all over. My neurolist was scrachin her head sayin somthins wrong with you. She sent me to a neroumusclar prof at usc and he said I fit into the chronic fatigue syndrome (he said this is real, docs get it) I spent over 10 years tryin to find an answer and there is none. So I finnaly decided to quit tryin to fiqure it ou and just live with it. I'm still walkin around and can ride my motorcycles and have a g/f. I don't know if have'n lyme undigonosed for a long time started this and guess I never will know. So hopefully gettin timely treatment will save you the freekin nightmare I went (and stll goin) through. Best of Luck!

I had gotten it last year but had it diagnosed very early in outset. There are alot of deer ticks in this area so whenever I find one on me I stick it under a piece of scotch tape and then monitor the bite for a couple of weeks after. If I suspect something may be amiss, I can always take the tick in to the Dr. to be tested. Generally if you get a "bulls eye" looking rash around the tick bite you can be pretty sure that you are infected with Lyme's disease. You are only about 35 minutes away from Lyme, Connecticut so the tick didn't really have all that far to walk....

Good luck with it George...

Problem with these buggers Chris is the tick that usually causes the disease is the size of the '.' (period) on this page. Really hard to see. The big tick for some reason do not carry the disease.

The only reason I found the damned tick was because of the rash that developed around it. Like you said, the tick itself was only about the size of a .

Don't hunt. There are so many friggin dear around here it looks like a nature preserve sometimes.
On my first trip back east, last fall, I decided that I wouldn't own a bike if I lived there. Ice in the winter and deer in riding season, no lane-sharing. Place is beautiful in summer though.

Here in Ca., Mountain Lions have been a "Specially-protected" species for over 18 years, since voters passed Prop. 117, outlawing sport hunting of them. The lions, with no population counts or checks, have the deer population pretty well down. They seem to be smart enough to avoid being hit very often, so it's all good for moto-bikers. Back in '90 when the prop was on the ballot, I worked my part to help defeat it. Now, as sport-tourer, it seems to have been a blessing in disguise. No deer=no deer strikes or deer ticks....

Stop humping the deer! :clapping:

:)

Seriously though, sorry about the medical crap. Get better soon.

My brother suffers from lyme disease because he didn't get treatment immediately and now now he is suffering while trying his best to live a normal life.

Early detection is the key to treatment but unfortunately most people don't know what the signs are. Hopefully your post will educate our members as to what lyme disease is and what it does.
