My brother suffers from lyme disease because he didn't get treatment immediately and now now he is suffering while trying his best to live a normal life.Early detection is the key to treatment but unfortunately most people don't know what the signs are. Hopefully your post will educate our members as to what lyme disease is and what it does.
That's why I posted up about this. In retrospect I had clues that I had the disease but they didn't hit home until the knee blew up. I didn't have the classic bulls eye redspot nor did I see the tick. My doc says I should be ok but it's been 18 days on the meds and I still have trouble lifting my leg up over the seat to mount the bike. Plus the meds make you super sun sensitive so no skinny dipping for me this year :D

I came down with Lyme desease back in my 20's. I went to the dock and he told me there haven't been any recorded cases for years. He refused to do the test and told me it was just a flue. I suffered excrusiating pain for months. I would get out of bed and drop to my knees in pain and tears. (JUST THE FLUE MY A$$) 6 months after going to the dock and still feeling like ***** there was a front page in the paper saying LYME desease is back. (BASTAGE DOCK)

I had pain in my joints for over a year and I hardly ever see a doctor anymore for anything. All they can do is shove pills down your throat and make the pharmacuticle company's rich. Its allways a guess with them. Now i do my own research on the internet for natural cures with better results.

I was lucky because my doc rides trials bikes and has had Lyme so he went to that first off. He started me on the antibotics the day he saw me and confirmed it 3 days later when the test results were returned. Recovery is still going slow. I have to lift my leg with my arm to mount the bike.

UPDATE** I went through the first 30 days of antibotics and I didn't get rid of the bug. Had the knee drained for the second time and started on another 30 days of doxycycline. Finished that up and thought I had it licked. Then about 2 weeks later my knee has blown up again (and drained-which is always a thrill! :dribble: ). I have an appointment with the ortho doctor tomorrow afternoon, with my departure for EOM scheduled for 12 hours later. We'll see how things go tomorrow.

The point is that this is one sob of a bug and if you suspect it, get your *** to the doctor.

What was the natural cure for Lyme disease?

Be careful. You don't need to hunt to get the ticks. A couple of years ago my dogs bought about ten ticks into my house over a 2 week period until I finally got some repellant. And I live just south of Chicago. I don't know what caused that flare up but it haven't happened since. Lymes did enter my mind and fortunately we all seem to be ok. At least physically.

GAHH!! :shok:
Holy crap, dude!

C'mon down. We'll find a way to sanitize yer innerds.

:drinks:
If I can take the ride in the truck, I might just do it. It;s only 824 miles down to TN.
THAT'S the spirit!

I was just reminded of a picture I took at the Montauk Point lighthouse...

The ticks that carry Lyme are the real small deer ticks. The size of the tick is about the size of the period at the end of this sentence.

That's good to know. Thanks.

Just got back from the doctor. Had my knee drained for the 4th time, going for an MRI on Friday. Doc says he thinks it's going to take surgery to fix things. I'm really glad that I got my spring ride (RI to Denver and back) and to ride my new to me 07 home from Wisconsin.
