Well, Since I arrived in San Jose, I have not seen one rider without gear. Even the Harely rider riding an XR or XR clone had gear on and everyone wears a full face.

This is a far cry from the "gear is for pussies" attitude that 95 percent of the riders in Cincinnati seem to exhibit. There 9 out of ten riders look like they should be on a stairmaster and not a motorcycle.

Of course one thing you CA types need to do, especially the cagers, is BACK OFF THE FREAKIN THROTTLE!

Jeezus, no wonder gas costs more here, you guys must be going through it at a frantic pace, because thats the pace you guys drive, frantic. Hurry up and catch that next red light because if you go slower it may turn green and you won't have any time to concentrate on your cellular call.

And guys, consider yourself lucky you get to lane split. If the guy that passed me today would have been in Cincinnati he would have been put in a ditch on purpose, (not by me of course) and probably given a ticket when the cops showed up and then had to pay for the damage done to the car that put him there.

+1 to that! And for the record, I play the "lottery" regularly and I am a winner! Last one from the CHP (Meter Maids of the Freeway) cost me $490 plus the cost of trafficschool.

In California, driving is a full contact sport! And the best defense is a good offense!

Long story I have told before. A CHP on a HD called the chopper thinking I was running. I pulled over as soon as I saw them, had just gotten my FZ-1 back from rejetting with new akra exhaust, etc. After I flipped the doctors badge, etc he was almost polite. Had to cite me as the chopper was hovering.

Turned out his son wanted the FZ-1, told his Dad that it was really slow, nothing like the R-1. So I let the CHP ride my bike which was showing 144 on the Dyno. Needless to say he did not let his son buy the FZ-1, instead something like a nice SV-650.

I was able to complete it between patients. My staff were truly appalled at how easy it was to "fix" that ticket.

I didn't tell you it only took me 40 minutes to get there from Pleasanton. 80mph easy, including car pool lanes. It was a great day for a ride.

New law in Kalifornia...if you have a commercial license you can no longer go to traffic school. Tickets will be 1 1/2 points against your license, and as usual your breath test will still fail you at .04 not .08 that the cage drivers get. I will be letting mine lapse and go back to a regular class C w/M1 endorsement when it expires in 2 years.
