If this is turning into Name That Bike - how about Sacralet Harlot. Congratulations on a nice ride.

Well Mike, you and your old Blue bike were certainly welcome in my garage.
I'm going to have to think hard about whether that PU$$Y Pink Bimbo will be allowed inside, but your bed is still available LOL :)

Congratulations on the upgrade
Sorry Mike.

You've got to admit that BigJohn has got you tagged as riding that Pink Pu$$y Bimbo.

What do you have to say for yourself?

Sweet, looks good Mike, Congratulations.

Sacramento brings back some great memories. Lived between Mt Shasta and Sac. 1987-89.

Old Sac

Great times.

Enjoy the season, it's beautiful country out there.

Congrats Mike! I just got in last night from 4 solid days of riding my new 2014. The cruise control & heated grips are AWESOME! I kept wondering why it took Yamaha 10+ years to introduce them!? Really? 10 Years? Anyways - almost everywhere I stopped people commented on the 2014 with big enthusiastic smiles. That color is a real conversation starter compared to the 07.

What tires came on yours? Mine came with the BT-023 (non-GT). They handle noticeably different from either the BT-023-GT or (my faves) the T30-GTs. Can't wait to shed those.

It took Yamaha 10 years to include heated grips?
My '08 AE had them stock from Yamaha. The only difference with my '16 is that they are now controlled via the menu instead of a rheostat. Not sure what he means by 10 years?

I don't know about how long heated grips have been standard (they weren't "standard" on that '08 were they, Bellerophon?) But anyway, I just wanted to marvel at the name of FJR-Pilot's town--Johns Crick, GA. That was gonna be my new favorite place name, but when I looked it for it on Google Earth, all they had was "Johns Creek."

Not nearly as fun.

The BMW dealership I bought it from put new Bridgestones on it. I don't know what model. I'll switch back to PR-4's when these burn up.

A little late to the game but......Congrats Mike!

I have been running Bridgestone T30's on mine since the original 023's and love the handling and reasonable mileage (8-10K either tire) and the price is good!

Enjoy that red beauty and hope to meet up with you again at a future FJR meet!!

Shows what I know about FJR trivia! I thought the heated grips were factory installed in 2013. I rode a couple of mornings last week around 32F and I felt a need for a setting between II and III ... so maybe the rheostat was a better idea?

That damn bike is made to destroy interstate miles by the hundreds and is incredibly fun to wick up in the mountains. The fuel range range indicator on mine seemed spot on from a little under full down to "Lo." I ran it down to "Lo" twice and both times put 5.5 gallons in it. On my 2007 at that point I had about 1/2 gallon unusable so if the 2014 is the same I figure I had about 1.2 gallon left? (18 miles?)

I'm able to use all 6.6 gallons of fuel in my bike. If a half-gallon of fuel is unusable in your FJR, something is wrong.

+1 - If you are putting 5.5 gallons in the tank when the gauge switches to "Lo" or flashing that means you had ~1.1 gallons unused in the tank. I usually round it off to 1 gallon, and figure I have ~ 40-45 miles in the count-up 'till I need to fill up.

Heated grips were factory installed on all of the AE models, all the way back to 2006.

They became factory installed on (the only available) A models as of 2011-2012.

In 2013 the control of the factory installed grips moved from a knob on the dash to the LCD display menu.

It's all in the FJR Comparo Matrix

where there are 3 settings in which you can 'program' the temperature for each setting from 1 (tepid) to 10 (burnt fingers). For instance, you may choose to make setting one "3", setting two "6" and setting three "9". Or, if you live in Fla, make the settings "1"; "2"; "3" or MN where the settings would be "8"; "9"; "10"

Hey Georgia man, RTFM.

There are three settings...like three radio station settings...but each one can be adjusted individually.

Don't worry about those who are complaining about the color. They are just jealous because theirs don't look as good!!!

As you can see I am not the fastest knife in the drawer. I should spend more time reading up about Gen III but between work, family, fixing up the 07 to sell, and installing all the accessories on the 14 I have not had time to look over all the new features available. Sorry for the thread hijack Mike but I did need to be corrected on this stuff. Thanks for all the (gentle) correction! Looking forward to a great riding season and perhaps meeting up with some of you!!
