I have an odd issue with my center stand

Does not the government have a program for these sort of situations? Would not this be considered critical home care under the new health law?
Only if you're 25 or under and still living with your parents.

I'm with the folks that say leave it alone or get a friend to do it. The piece of wood works well, but if you're injured anyway, why take the chance?

- Level the bike and push the center stand down until both legs are just touching- Right hand under the seat, left hand on left grip (just to steady the bike)

- Facing the bike, right leg bent applying pressure on the center stand lever, press down with your leg

- By using your leg you need only slight lift with your right arm

I generally always use my center stand, easier to fuel and check the oil. Good luck.

I can't use my right hand, as my right shoulder is broken . . . which is the whole issue.

I'll ask when I see my neighbor next.

However, there are enough people out here who say, "leave it on the side stand," so I'm not going to stress about it.

As for all the locals who offered to help, thank you very much, and I look forward to meeting you all in person some time in the not too distant future.

There's no problem leaving it on the side stand as long as you've parked it carefully so it cannot roll forward. Particularly with a bad shoulder, you do NOT want to find it lying on its side.

At least on my FJR, when it is on the center stand, the motion necessary to twerk it down off the center stand requires use of both my shoulders to push on the handlebars. So I'm wondering if, until your shoulder is better, it is a good idea to get it up on the center stand. Will you then be able to get it down?

Well, it would stay on the center stand until my shoulder is healed. Bone takes time to heal.

The ONLY reason I put mine on the center stand in the garage is because it takes less room then leaning over on the side stand. C-stand makes it easier to load for trips also.

On the road, I put it on the C-stand for gas. Other than that, just lean it and use the easy one! Remember, the C-stand is basically for ease of maintenance. Not using it won't hurt anything... Especially your shoulder.

In all the posts I've seen dealing with long-term storage, in nearly the same sentence as "changed the oil" people mention putting it up on the center stand.

In my tech writer brain (read instructions because I write instructions), that makes it seem like an important step. Since my tech writer brain thought it was important for good storage, I asked the above question.

If the only reason is to save space, then it is a non-issue. We have the bikes parked in the garage, we both commute on the bikes (when well), so they are set up in a manner that lets them both get in and out easily, and in any order. The cage is parked outside.

Issue closed.
