I love my Starmate Reply and Techmount. I finally have great uninterrupted music with no commercials piped right into my helmet. My whole setup is basically the unit, the mount and the magnetic antenna I placed on the gas tank. When I bought the Techmount I ordered both the long and short shaft. I used the short shaft and adjusted the radio to the perfect location. It does not vibrate at all and I can easily operate the large buttons even with gloves on. Other pluses are, it runs on bike power and is illuminated. The only downer is the earphone output is not very strong and there isn’t an easy volume control. However I just bounce the signal to my mounted Walkman and use it to amplify and adjust volume. I saw an in-line mini amplifier from Radio Shack that would also work if I didn’t use the Walkman. Perhaps the next generation of satellite radios will include one designed just for motorcycles. The radio easily unsnaps and I can take it with me. The Techmount quality is very good but I was disappointed when the stem nut was marked by the socket I used to tighten it. I highly recommend both products.

looks great bro...

probably the only downer I see is the brightness is really bright and can not be adjusted. Sort of gets irritating at night especially when trying to focus on bad roads. Distraction maybe?

That unit is impossible to adjust brightness.

Actually, it wouldn't bother me if my FJR had a brighter dash. I like the clarity and blue color of my R1 guages better. I think they could of done better with the 2006FJR.

I just used the top plate the Techmont came with and the supplied screws and mounting plate which came with the Starmate. It snaps on securely. I also have a small velcro strip on the back so I can attach receiver in my truck when I want to listen there. You do have to unplug the power wire and antenna each time you move it.
