The rain is here, the snow is coming, I am getting ready for elk hunting, what a sad day.

I went out to the garage to start the process of winterizing my 06 FJR. When I got there I could see she was all excited. I know that she thought we were going for a ride. When I started getting her ready for her long winter sleep I could see the excitement go and the tears start to form. We started to talk a little. I told her about the luggage rack and back rest I would be putting on her while she was sleeping and the new shoes that would be here when she woke. I think she was feeling a little better after that because I could see a little smile sneak out of her. We talked a little more about all the fun we had this year. I then pulled the cover over her, turned off the light and left the garage. As I wiped the tears from my face and closed the door I could hear some sniffles coming from the garage. Damn, It is going to be a long winter. :cray:

As long as you're not having an illicit affair with GASP a snowmobile, then miss Yammie will stay happy.. Otherwise... oooh... one nasty divorce is on it's way :D

Bedding her down was no doubt a difficult task. Sympathy’s extended from down south. She’s probably wishing she were a southern boy’s dirt-bike about now or at the very least, envious of them. As it rumored amongst many a sad and lonely street-bikes that southern boys teach their dirt-bikes how to bugle. :bow_arrow: Mind you, I know of no  corroborating evidence to support said rumor or fantasy.

WARSW. Wher are you in Ore.?? I am in LaPine and I am going to ride a bit more before I give up for the year. I just moved from Wash. so the rain doesn't bother me much but when it turns solid I guess thats it.

64 degrees here today, warm all week. Gonna have the dealer slap a TPS in tomorrow, and ride at least all week. I will until snow comes and is predicted to stick. If this is global warming, hand me another sixer of that R12, Goober......... :p

FJRay, Good to hear from you. My wife and I are the owners of Hidden Pines RV Park not too far out of La Pine just off Burgess Rd. Stop by and say Hi.

The rain isn't the big problem, although I do try to avoid it, but right now we have my in-laws hear for a short visit. When they leave I will be getting ready to go elk hunting. I won't be getting home until Nov.30th. I am just guessing that by then the bad weather will probably be here.

How long have you been in Oregon? Maybe we can get together next year for some good rides. Do you like to camp? I know some great rides in some gorgeous country with some great camping and fly-fishing.

Boy, You sure know how to make a guy feel good. :glare:

Hey Guys! I live just south of Eugene..little town called Creswell..near Cottage Grove. We must get together next Spring and do some riding!! We were doing some group rides this summer with the Eugene Sportbike group. Usually my husband (and now my daughter) do weekend rides around the area..over to Florence or up towards Sisters. I know how you feel about putting your bike away for the winter. I don't mind rain but would rather not ride in it if I don't have to. We generally take them out during the winter if we have a nice sunny day. It's still cold but it's hard to go all winter without getting out on the bikes. I have an '05 that I have to take to the dealer in Cottage Grove. When I called the service dept to see if I could bring it in on Tuesday of this week, the service guy was surprised I'd ride it if it was raining. It's only a few miles away...and I do have rain gear! Anyway, have a great hunting trip!

Back East here, as long as it's 40 or above & no rain or snow or ice, I've been known to go out for a long ride even in December/January/February. After the cruiser, having the FJR is like having a ten degree bonus offset for riding in cold weather, never seems as cold as the thermometer indicates (funny how my left ankle feels just fine...).

Yes when I go out (when it's cold) I have long johns, insulated jeans, insulated flannel shirt, snowmobile gloves and leathers on. Takes awhile to put on all the layers, but it's nice riding when it's cold, gives you a different perspective & all that. I don't go out to punish myself, rather to enjoy the barren season. Besides, don't want Betsy to think I've forgotten about her...

I'd like to join in on a ride sometime. Always like the ride over to the coast or Crater lake. I'm commuting to Eugene all this coming week on the FJR.....rain or not. As long as there is no ice or snow it's fun....just a pain with lots of layers, so no little hops in winter. But I ride at least once a week for 100 miles or so to keep the battery charged....... I'd also like to try camping with the FJR next year.....haven't camped on a bike since 1994.

Checked the weather. Damn! Severe weather alert (among other places) Eugene, with heavy rain, 20-30 mph winds and flood watch.......... I think the truck today, going over the passes. Wasn't going to wimp out but the wife nearly begged.....Damn, I have to move South some day.

Never understood the concept. There's got to be days without ice now and then even in the coldest clime. Just ride it! There is no such thing as too cold, too hot, too windy, too rainy, etc. Only too icy can keep me off the bike.

Yup, nice dry streets are tempting, until you come across a band of ice due to sun melt, in a nice fast corner. Like gravel in a turn, it only takes one bite to kill.

High 70's yesterday then last night a major thunderstorm blew through. Nice and upper 50's this morning. Will be prepping the bike for the MSF/EFR next weekend than a trip for the TPS replacement when they can skoot me in after that.

ILLICIT!!?? I will have you know that my Feej and I have an open marriage and there is nothing illicit about my winter-time relationship with 3 other (skiied) females, including a new sister from MamaYama expected to be delievered this month. Get over this small-minded, provincial attitude Don! :D
