Die längste Sommerrodelbahn Europas im Stubaital in Mieders. Sie ist 2.800 m lang und führt über unzählige Serpentinen über 600 Höhenmeter in Tal!

Santo infierno!!
That looks like a hoot. Almost worth a side trip for the guys going on Beemerdons Alpine Trip this coming summer. Just a short jaunt over near Innsbruck... And Michael... I am impressed. Not only can you photoshop, you can cut and paste!

Rode a something similar at Wisp in MD near Deep Creek Lake this past summer. It had more of a roller coaster track versus the monorail in the video. It was a blast.

That's a nice setup with the rail system.

Years ago there was something like this at a ski area in MA or VT just off 91. Anyone know if it's still around?

They had a track that looked like it could be used as a water slide. It had these carts that were akin to a mechanics creeper with a bar you pulled up on that worked as a brake. The track was fiberglass and i made the mistake of letting my elbow touch the side as i was taking a corner too fast. Like sand paper it instantly took the skin off my elbow.

Had the same thought. Wonder if there'd be time . . .

Michael, do I understand you to be saying "The longest summer toboggan run in Europe in the Stubai Valley in bodice. It is 2,800 m long and runs through countless switchbacks over 600 meters in the valley?" Cuz if so, you're starting to sound like Beemerdons.

At the end of this vid there are several related videos shown, including a number of the type you describe. And videos of several crashes on that kind too.

All The Gear, All The Time. ;)

As a lawyer, my opinion is this would never work in the USA. The sleds would need more padding and protection, you'd have to wear a bunch of approved clothing, they'd limit the steepness and speed, you'd have to sign a huge waiver and watch a 30 minute safety video, pass a skills test, and then some fat little dork would still fly off texting on his i-phone on the way down, break his collarbone and file a huge suit to shut the whole thing down. JMHO :)

Yeah, Breckinridge, CO has alpine slides as well...my kids did that back in 2008.

It's kind of a miracle when anything gets built in America, let alone California, but not to get too political . . .

Went to Lake Tahoe last fall with the family and "some" of us wanted to try the fairly new zipline that went down the mountain at Heavenly Valley. It was closed. :angry2: One of the guy wires supporting the line had just recently broken and snapped back, perfectly timed to knock some poor soul off the nearby chairlift. Killed him. Kind of a one-in-a-gazillion deal. In support of Spud's comment, it's still closed. Website says "indefinitely."
