Dayum Bob. Wait until PETA finds out you kicked a bear in the nuts. You should probably go into hiding.
I had a REAL close encounter with a black bear in the woods in NH. Kicking it in the nuts never crossed my mind.

Mi Amigo Roberto, are you 100% certain that it wasn't just our El Toro Joe dressed up in a bear suit ese? JSNS, muy Peligro!

A couple of years ago I was on an ADV photo tag run in the White Mountains. The tag location was a trail crossing of the Appalachian Trail where it crosses Rte 302 up in Crawford Notch.

There is a short, maybe 1/2 mile long access road between the main road and the trailhead parking area. On my way up the access road I came across a car parked on the side of the road with PA tags on it. The car had been totally destroyed by vandals, the back door window totally smashed out and the door frame bent, and the rear seats had been pulled out and thrashed, some of the contents that were stashed in the car were strewn across the road.

I was so bummed out that some punk ******* kids would have been so low as to trash the car, which was clearly a cache for some Pennsylvania thru hikers. When I told my son about it he clued me in to what really happened: It wasn't some rural ******* kids... it was a bear. Smokey could smell all the freeze dried food in the car and it was easy enough for him to open that car like a tuna can and get at the goods. It restored my faith in the local people, but not so much the local bears.

And we only have black bears around here. I can't imagine what the big browns can do.
