I wonder who will wave at me this time...

I'll wave in a corner depending on the corner and the lean angle required. I saw a guy on a Duc wave at me when he was at, or very near, maximum lean angle. This was on a mountain switchback, TIGHT turn. I just waved back and later shook my head. It was a pretty slick move, but not one I'd advocate.

I think many harley riders don't wave because they don't want to take one hand off the ape hangers for that long. One has to have a tight grip when the parts start falling off.

This topic has alway been the same. Those that do, those that don't, and those who wave sometimes to certain types. Me I usually always wave no matter what, but never while cornering. PM. <>< :bye:
Ah, but PM, the corner wave is the King of all waves... it means you care enough about your fellow biker to relinquish control of your life, risking your very being to give your 2-wheeled brother a hearty Hello!.... ;) Plus, if you read Lee Parks "Total Control" book, you'll see he advocates primarily steering in corners with only 1 hand anyway, so you might as well find something to do with the other one... :)
Funny you say that. I was on the road that basically goes from the nuclear power plant to El Campo about a year ago. I was on my Goldwing, and really had it laying on its saddle bags around an 80 degree sweeper. A guy on a Ninja coming the other way leaned over further than me (not hard to do) waved at me in mid corner. Ever since then, I have considered it my duty to do the same.

About a month ago I was on my Goldwing with my wife on back. She really doesn't care how fast I corner if its not a blind curve. I waved to a guy in mid corner while leaned pretty far over. My wife later asked if that was really necessary. Of course it was. Strangely, she really didn't argue.

You and I still need to pick a time and get together. If we both ride 10 minutes towards each other, we will meet down on NASA 1.

Here is what I noticed....

When I have the bags and trunk on....I get waves from all the touring bikes, half the harley's and half the sports bike.

When I have them off, I get majority of waves from sports bike, half from touring and hardly any from Harley's.

Go figure.......

One thing that is common..........I get looks (drooling is common) from all bikes, pedestrians and cagers.....I am happy with that.

I get waves from almost all the bikes. Most of the ones who don't are wings.

I wave at all of 'em. Like makin friends. :D

I take an adversarial approach... I guilt them into a response.

I wave 95 percent of the time and I wave _early_. Arm straight, five o'clock, two fingers extended in an upside down 'V'. The arm is out so long I get a response 85-90 percent of the time. Harley boys too. Yes I wave even in corners most of the time. The FJR doesn't need both hands at normal highway speeds. I admit to some chagrin when the bike is a scooter, though...

 I wave at most all riders whether I'm riding my FJR or my HD Road Glide. Doesn't matter what you are riding just so you're riding. Well ok, I must admit I can't wave at the scooters, just doesn't seem right. They look so ridiculous, especially when tucked over on the highway at 55 MPH!

+1 on the Painman method.

But, I bet M-RIDER's philosophy keeps the therapy bills down. :D

I have an idea wave with both hands this way you will get noticed! Just kidding. My friends told me to do that when I was 12 jumping ditches on my schwinn. Look mom no hands, look mom no feet, look mom no teeth!. Any way funny story with some HD guys. The other day I pulled up to an intersection with a BIKER bar at that corner. Alot of bikes parkered out front of the bar. As I pulled up to the intersection I pulled my windshield down from the top position. Three or four bikers saddled their bikes and pulled up to the intersection next to me as i pulled up. One of the riders noticed my windshield going down. I presume he had to much to drink because he gave me that double vision look as he watched my windshield go down, and almost dropped his ride. But of course that did not stop him from riding.

No one waves in DFW so i gave up. But then you get on the outskirts of the metroplex and all of a sudden, we're all friends again. So i figure this may be a metro problem. Any one else notice this? LA? Houston? Chicago?

And harley riders never wave here. no matter where i am. cept to each other.

They were waaaayyyy too busy to wave. :D (Where is the smilie for, "oh, #&*@, mother! I'm in over my head!")

Chalk one up for the Streetmaster's course.

Try the Godiva Wave ( © 1952 by radman productions, inc.). Guaranteed to elicit as response...
there was one couple on sunday morning on an older goldwing, man i thought the pillion was gonna fall off the bike! she was practically standing up to wave, arm all the way up in the air!

The Godiva Wave? Rad will have to demonstrate that for me @ WFO!

Are you really sure about that Woodstock....absolutely....positively sure?....

Well I wave at everybody cept those HD riders with there ape hanger bars. You can see them a 1/2 mile away and hear them a mile away. You can just tell they are WAY TO COOL /TOUGH to be waving at a metric rider.I give the scooter riders more respect .I think the corner wave shows that you can control your bike in more that a straight line. I wave at anyone on a motorycle - even the mopeds. I don't want the guys on the moped forums talking about us like we talk about Harley riders!
I live in the Houston area, and in a part of town where there are many weekend riders on all kinds of motorcycles. Almost all Goldwing riders wave, almost all sport riders wave, and about half the Harley riders wave (even the ones on Metric bikes - I can't always tell when they are coming at me). I do know that many are Harleys - and even many of the custom "chopper" group wave. I think they are just hard-core riders like we are and they understand that we are all in it together.

I think its likely that the Harley riders who don't wave are the white collar baby boomers who simply don't know any better.

My experience in the wilds of Oregon too.

I'd say the majority of the riders in and around Houston (and the suburbs) wave... like I said before, I wave regardless, so even if they don't wave back, maybe they will the next time...
