As of right now, I'm a planning to attempt a Bun Burner Gold 1500 on the way out to NAFO, and therefore I will need a witness for the end of my ride. I want to try and arrive out to the hotel early enough to get a full night sleep on Wednesday the 23rd, but plans could change slightly.

So what do you say, any IBA members willing to be around if I buy them lunch one of the following days?

I know I am getting WAY ahead of things, but what the hell else am I supposed to do when the HIGH for tomorrow is supposed to be ZERO?

We're thinking about getting there a day early, too. I'd be happy to sign you out if I'm there.

You know, the Muckety Mucks will all probably be there the day before too, and I'll bet you can get several of them to vouch for you. Having the signatures of guys who Mr. Kneebone knows personally on your paperwork would be a real bonus!

Good luck with your BBG!

A few setting up the event and it wouldn't even cost you a lunch...although gin and tonics are nice.

PM sent.

Like Iggy sez: there will be more than a few IBA "certifiables" who can witness your ride. I'd be happy to, and I'm pretty sure Warchild, Iggy, et al would be happy to do so as well.

It looks like I may also try for a BBG to NAFO. Still working out a few details at home, so I haven't registered yet, but I should get that squared away soon. I'd probably show up around midday Thursday.

So, a couple of quick questions:

1. If several of us are planning IBA rides in, should we get more formal about setting up witnesses?

2. Anyone know the area well enough to know if there's a good place for an ending receipt by the hotel?

It just turns out that my front door to the hotel's front door is 1560 miles. I mean, it's just begging me to do it. And it looks like the only tricky part is timing things to get through that Gary-Chicago nightmare on I-80 with the least amount of delay possible.

Not a nightmare anymore...just don't hit it during rush hour and yer good. (unless accident or snow in July)

If you time it just right, TriggerT is passing through Omahell and I'll join him on the last 570ish miles to Golden. PM him for details; I'll just catch up...

To answer #2, there are 4 fuel stations at the exit just previous to the hotel, if you're coming from the east. It's W 32nd Ave (HWY181 ?)

From the west, there are plenty of fuel stops at the exit for HWY40/161 or Colfax Dr (?)

I'm relying on Streets & Trips 2006, perhaps some locals know better.

1. The witness thing doesn't need to be done right when you arrive within a couple of hours is fine.

2. Google is your friend, gas near NAFO. Choose a station and give them a call a few days before you leave. Confirm when they're open when you'll arrive and have them check the time stamp on their receipt. You'd hate to get there and find out they didn't change from standard time to day light savings time and be an hour or more off. That would suck :glare:

I'm thinking about doing one, too. I'm seriously considering 1700 miles in 24 hours.

Most of the IBA members will be near the bar. Simply come in and buy us a drink, get the receipt and we'll verify the odometer. The most important part will probably be the drinks. On a serious note, if this is your qualifying IBA ride most IBA members would insist on buying you the drink. See you there!

Cool. We could have 3 BBG's for trips to NAFO. Now, are either squeezer or Ari going to be doing the rally on Friday as well?

I am starting to think about a Trifecta. A BBG on the way out to NAFO. Then a day off. Then the NAFO IBA rally for a SS1K. Then a day off. Then do another SS1K on the ride home on Sunday. My *** hurts just thinking about it.
