Congratulations! Let the addiction begin LOL!

On the seat, I have a Russell and got it used off the forum here. Not built for me, but a big improvement over what I had and for quite a bit less than even the group buy was.

Big thing for me besides the seat is being able to move my feet around; I use the regular pegs, passenger, and some brand x highway pegs I added.

If you keep an eye on the for sale section, you can get many things used for significantly less if you're quick...

I will be attempting a SS1K on a Sargent seat with a Sheepskin pad. God help me!!

I will be attempting a SS1K (and GBU rally) on a stock seat with a Sheepskin pad. This will be fun!

Anyway...congrats Roadstar! Having lived in Virginia, and now out here in the PNW, I cringe thinking about an IBA ride out there. Traffic is killer. Though, I do like how the states are a bit smaller...state crossings always give me more energy. Don't have that experience as much cruising across all of Washington...and then Montana...
Will be at the GBU as well.

You iron butt guys are crazy.
I have wanted to ride a bike a long distance, for a real long time. I remember back in 1970 when my cousin Roger rode his brand new CB750 Honda , from California to New York. I thought he was the coolest guy in the world (still do) I can't wait for him to see im trying to follow in his foot steps.

Uhhh, WheatieBoy? 990 miles on the kali ride?

....and no CBA dues paid yet?
It's a good thing I didn't join then, aint it. ;)

That's why I'm not a joiner...more dues fees = less beer money. :)

BTW, Congrats Roady...I'm sure YOU'RE not crazy...like those other nutters in the IBA.

W, I'm not sure the seat made for your nice, tight ass would have fit Roady very well. (Umm, did I type that out loud?)
That's it, I am now officially terrified to lead a group with you riding second!!!

so I guess you will have to keep your top box on for good, as to keep woundering eye's at bay. ;-)

Well Yesterday I started out at 4:00am from Lancaster PA (rt30 & rt 340) after Kolonial72 came to my aid & signed my witness form at Toms gas station. Well the weather was good BUT it had rained earlier & the roads down in Maryland were still wet & was getting spray from cars until i hit Virginia (on rt95). First stop was at Love`s truck stop in Ruther Glen VA at 214mi`s & put 5 gallons of fuel in (last bar just started flashing). Rode down past Richmond to Petersburg & turn right onto rt85 where i ran down into NC & stopped again in Mebane NC at 214 mi`s & added 5 gallons again (starting to see a pattern) I was able to go the rest of the way to my turn around spot in Bessemer city NC (553mi`s)so more fuel & I couldn`t help myself as the bike just ran so good :D . I made it back to Middleburg NC for fuel (yes 5 gallons :glare: ) When i just rode into VA it poured rain all the way to Petersburg VA (got passed by a R1200RT  ) From there i made it to Fredericksburg VA for more fuel (yup 5 gallons) after a few (i can do this) i got back on the road & made it to my last stop (rt340 & rt30 Toms in Lancaster PA) I had my wife meet me & sign my witness form & took some pics.

On a side note, i did stop at rest stops & refilled my camel back & ate some breakfast bars for meals. I did 1,106mi`s total (GPS miles, not ODO) in 19 hours & 45 min & did 42.8mi`s per gallon. As for seats my Sargent seat was a little better than my stocker but at the 900mi mark, my butt was just about done  as the last 200mi`s or so was pure torture  (guess i`ll be in for a group buy for a Russel this winter. :p

Outstanding! I did my first SS1000 last month and recieved my certification today in the mail. :yahoo: :yahoo:

Congrats Roadstar on your SS1000. Wondering though if the biggest accomplishment is the ride or the filling out the papaerwork. At least for me it was always the paperwork. Finally got the the nerve and sent in my papaerwork for the first time. :) I imagine now that you have your 1st under your belt you have already begun scheming about that next big ride.

Thanks !! & as for the ride or paper work, i would have to say the ride, As with the type of work i do, there is always lots of paper work & it must be absolutely right, or when i get pulled over for a D O T check point , i would be banged on heavy fines. My plan was to take pictures of bike & ever stop (fuel & rest) but at the start i moved the tank bag and the camera fell out and broke. The pics i posted was from my wifes cell phone at end of trip.
