Some of you may know forum member Carl Stark. I believe he is the only person in Wyoming with a working Trebuchet in his back yard. He has completed a few rides such as the 07 IBR, one of the few finishers of a 48+++(Mexico, Canada, and Alaska) and a unique ride where he rode 10 SS1Ks in 10 days in 10 different states. He also made sure to say hello to 101st Pathfinder as he made his way through Wyoming oh his 48+++ ride.

Anyway, I got this Wyoming style survival kit from him:

With a few additions, because I live in California:

And pictures of my custom Cracked rim repair kit:

Carl is a good guy. BTW, in case he didn't include instructions - that hammer is for bonking yourself on the head - after you lose points at the scoring table, to wake yourself up, or any other time you realized you just screwed up. And there will be a lot of those. Trust me.

From firsthand experience, that is not enough duct tape for a ride of this magnitude. See you next Friday night.

Sorry mferriter,

There is another thread on this site where I documented the first known FJR Cracked Rim to be discovered.

I am borrowing forum member eeksnake's rim to use for my summer vacation, and then will return it.

The PR2 will fit over my fuel cell for the ride to Seattle...

Doug,

I tried to design this kit to have many uses and to fit all situations. While the hammer would work well as a wake up tool it's intent was as an all purpose mechanical aid/tool.

The sharp stick was intended as the I'm awake, motovation, what the hell was I thinking tool. Please keep the stick handy as you will need it. Your tank bag would be the perfect place to keep the stick. If it will not fit in your tank bag feel free to cut it down. This will not hamper the efectiveness of this tool.

I was unable to locate a 14 lb. and had to send a 12 lb. sledge so this kit does have it's limit when it comes to mechanical repairs. Sorry about that as the kit was put together on short notice.

Wishing you the best of luck in the big dance.

Carl and Jonnie
