My 50,000 mile 2008 FJR has run flawlessly its entire life. I change the oil and plugs, put in gas, and ride. I always know that with a credit card in my pocket, and a fairly flexible schedule, I can deal with anything that might happen on the road (except for a deer).

However,----

during the IBR, if some mechanical thing happens, I won't have the luxury of time to get the issue resolved. And many Yamaha dealers may be real experienced fixing 4 wheelers and cruisers, but my experience is that not many of them have worked extensively on FJRs. Can you recommend some dealers across the country who KNOW FJRs and are responsive to pleas for help? Are there some of you who would be willing to help (physically or on the phone) if one of us FJR riders get into a pickle sometime, somewhere during the rally?

If you need help in southern CA, contact Jay or Scott Conway, owners of Yamaha of Cucamonga at 909-987-2411. They are 5 star mechanics and a very honest dealer. They helped any rider with support in the 2009 IBR. can check their site on the web by searching, Yamaha of Cucamonga. Mention that TurboDave suggested them.

Good luck on the 2011 IBR, FYI I was born and raised in Memphis many moons ago.

Gunny! to what SkooterG & TurboDave said. (Link to the FJR Assistance Directory is in my signature line.)

Another support net that will be available during the rally is the LD community. Seems to me that as soon as Rally HQ is contacted, a quick email or phone call is made and several folks are answering.

Amazing bunch of folks.

I am in Auburn, WA about 30 miles or less from the Seattle Marriot in SeaTac for anyone that needs to service a bike, do a tire change or oil change or whatever. Have a full shop with tools, bike lift, etc. Two Yamaha dealers are close by within 30 miles.

Just PM me if you would like to schedule the use. I will be on a ride about through Canada from 5/26 to 6/5.

Thanks for the post and the link in signature line.

I have been intending to get placed on the list, and finally got it done.

Howard,

We did the RAT ride together (Started). I am in West Palm Beach for those who brave the Key West

(Suckers Bonus  ) I live a block from I -95. I should be at the JAX check point also. I am on the

FJR's list. I offer my assistance, I also have a Yamaha dealer within 5 miles. I will try to help in any way.

I also have a truck. Best wishes on your ride (s)!

Howard, thanks for the inquiry. I was going to ask the same question. Great to have coast to coast coverage. I wasn't aware of the "fjrassist" program, but now I am.

And Bungie's in charge, so he should expect at least one 3 AM call from his buddy down the road, if not for help then maybe for conversation.

Thanks, all, for your replies. I've signed up for the FJR assist program in Memphis, TN. I hope to receive the list of other volunteers, although I really don't want to need any of them.

SkooterG and Beemerdons have a Yamaha mechanic they swear by in Casa Grand, AZ, you'll have to ask them for his contact info.

But, you won't need any help by the time you get to AZ because:

1) You're riding the superior Gen2;

2) It's all downhill, with a tailwind, from AZ to the finish in Ontario.

:D
