Here is a fairly frightening photo of Iggy in his LDComfort shorts... He's trying to dry out himself and his gear at the Reynolds bonus stop. Note Iggy'sa creative use of the FJR exhaust to dry out some boots.... Next to him is Doug Chapman, a much happier fellow now that his Datel is displaying nominal figures again. Whatever was causing the Datel to show 11.9 volts at the Start, has evidently corrected itself. Doug suspects it was just water intrusion issue of some sort.
And the gent smiling at the camera (black jacket/yellow shoulders) is the man beeroux refers to, Jeff Earls:
George is absolutely correct; we could easily see Jeff Earls atop the podium this year. He is a Main Force in the endurance-riding community. Although he's riding a new K1200GT in this event, he wasn't always a beemer dude. He an I rode our very first (sanctioned) Endurance Rally in the Fall of 1996, the Cal24 "Into the Night" Rally. At that time, Jeff was riding a Yamaha FJ1200. So he can't be all bad....
IIRC, I finished one position ahead of Jeff in that event..... which was probably the last time I came out ahead of him....
In this photo below, that's Paul Peloquin (back to camera) in the far FJR in the background; can't recall who is riding the FJR closest to the camera....
Better shot of Paul Peloquin's bike. In this photo, Paul appears to be reviewing his routing decisions on his laptop:
