Okay, got home the other day to find that the SO had decided that the constant 'Update Now' flashing annoyance notice needed answering and loaded up IE 7, among other things. Now, when I'm on this site and I try and use a member provided link, I just get the ubiquitous MS, 'doink' and then nothing. Also, when I try and attach an image, I have to allow it from that asinine pop-up information bar:

This website is using a scripted window to ask you for information. If you trust this website, click here to allow scripted windows...
I've tried to email the problem to MS's help sites, but guess what? Yup. Doink. :angry2:

Now, I know that a lot of you will say, "Oh, you should be using Firefox." Well, that sucks gangrened moose balls, too, IMO.

Any ideas? :dntknw:

IE7 is as ****** up as a soup sandwich. Seriously.

You really should be using FireFox 2.0, regardless of the status of moose sexual organs.

If you insist on staying with that security-sieve of a browser, then do this:

Go to: Internet Options ==> Content ==> Feeds ==> Settings, and uncheck the option that plays a sound when a Feed is found.

Should be silent after that. ;)

Dude. Tongue the testes. Don't let the danglies scare 'ya. They're still mammals after all.

Be much more worried that you're getting a ******* browser shoved to your desktop too early. And, I like Microsoft otherwise. This is just one version they screwed up on and it's going to take until Vista is sorted out before it will be worth a ****.

If you insist on being fudgepacked, then I'd look under Tools, Internet Options, Security, Custom Level about Scripting and try the various options. Not 100% sure, but it's a possibility.

Also, if corporate then "they" the IT Illuminati may be invoking settings on purpose. You might have to orally bathe their grapes....which are much more scary than trying to navigate past those rear moose legs.

Do what I did. Just uninstall it. Go to Settings, Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs and select IE7.

I had downladed IE7 on one of my other home computers to check it out. Not Ready for prime time yet. I uninstalled it and now back to IE6 working fine.

Wish I would have read this post earlier.......I just installed last night IE7.

I do us Firefox here but use IE on certain sites.........they are now locking up on me as well.

Oh well, my cure will be to go ride for awhile.............I am behind this pc too much anyway..............cya.

I installed it at work as the test mule. On all the other machines that I am setting up (or touch to support in any manner) I am using the WindowsUpdate option that lets you "hide" the update so it won't appear. That, along with GroupPolicies at work that block it as an option for all users, may help postpone it's roll out.

M$ fuque dup again by making it a critical update right away. I noticed that they moved it from critical to "recommended" this past week though. Seems that even they are getting a glimmer of a clue.

BTW: +1 on the Firefox/Mozzilla recommendations. All I use IE for now-a-days is for WindozeUpdates and for those idiotic web sites designed with M$ products that incorporate M$-proprietary extension that make the site incompatible with anything other than IE. In most of those cases, I just ignore the use of that site since it's clear the developer/company doesn't want everyone's business anyway.

Don’t ya still have the ability to disable auto check for IE updates and then disable install on demand under advanced Internet Options with the newer versions of Windows?

Wouldn’t the first browser option eliminate the

constant 'Update Now' flashing annoyance notice
and the second browser option assure that you were only going to install what you chose?

You really should be using FireFox 2.0, ...............
I agree about Firefox. I've been using it for a while. But, I recently upgraded from v. 1.5.0.8 to their newest version. 2.0, which just came out a few weeks ago and had a lot of problems. Maybe it's just my setup, but I had to uninstall it and went back to v. 1.5.0.8 which is still available on their web site and works great. Here's the link to download Firefox 1.5.0.x CLICKY

Bounce,

If by S, ya mean me. Yeah, my bad, or rather failure to read the previous post thoroughly.

No harm intended.

shokdimn :bike:

Thanks, gents. The next sound you here will be that of a small, thermonuclear tactical (I said tactical, Iggy, not testicle) warhead landing in Billy's lap.

Iggy-san, you worry me greatly with your depth of knowledge of terminology for scrotal, um, appreciation.

TWN

I had the same thing happen to me last week when i did the update.

At the bottom of the window you should get an eyeball that when you mouse over it says privacy report. Click on the eye and it will bring up a window. click allow from this site and you should be good to go. I have had no probs since.

Hope that helps.

+1

IE7 sucks big time.

I foolishly installed it on a laptop and 2 desktops and can now only infrequently access my email (thru hotmail) from those machines. Was able to get to my email once today. Had to go to my office twice this weekend to get work related email thru my Outlook program which is not affected.

I sent the complaint/help email to MS and did receive a reply within 24 hrs. I did all the BS they suggested and no improvement.

I think I will uninstall the IR7 and go back to version 6 ( and start to take a look at Firefox).

To think, I was going to upgrade IE 6 to IE 7 on my desktop. Not now. I'll stick with IE 6 for the wife. I use Firefox 2.0 myself.
