If you tip the bike over to the right at a stop sign that is sloped to the right at about a 30 degree angle (what the heck was that civil engineer thinking), the bike can be picked up. Especially if you're 80 miles from the nearest town, out of cell phone territory, and more than 120 miles from the nearest gas station. At 5.10 175lbs I think it came back up faster than it went down.

Side note... it's an eerie feeling when you step down and only catch air with one foot. Only had about 400 miles on the FJR at that time. Ouch!

Thank you guys for sharing. I feel SOOO much better now. In a mere 10K miles by bike has been attacked by gravity twice. The first time was a demonstration of what NOT to do in a u-turn, outside a biker bar. The second demonstrated how much better the kickstand works when fully extended. Just in case you didn't know, hopping aboard the bike with the kickstand not fully down, is not cool.

On both occasions, I used the technique that I've practiced, to right a heavy cruiser. It works on the cruisers but I could not get the FJR to budge one little bit. At 5'2" tall, I just don't have the leverage. Thankfully, there was a helpful guy to bale me out each time.
