Iggy....My hero!!!! Congratulations on another excellent finish.

You are definately on a roll this year my friend. I am guessing that it has something to do with the water in Pasco, WA. The same water that Peter Behm drank in large quanitities at your place prior to the IBR start.

I smell a business opportunity... Pick up a few thousand recycled plastic water bottles, rinse, and then fill with water from your own taps..... Call it "Matts Winning LD Energy Drink".

Awesome ride!
+1 Congrats Iggie!!! :yahoo:

(Where do I sign up for the NW corner of WA Franchise? :p  )

Congrats Iggy..... **** I struggle to finish my Dam tour and you have not only done that, but have won 2 rally's in between. :)

From the GB&U Rallymasters, Bob and Sylvie Torter:

Overall results are shown without regard to class.

Matt Watkins, the overall winner not only rode more than 1900

miles, he completed six route bonuses which ranged in length from 30+

mile dirt Lemhi Pass to 99+ miles of curves on the Lolo Pass. He

defied the thinking of the rally planners who did not imagine riders

scoring more than two or three route bonuses.

Mike Loomer, a first time rally rider, rode 1501 miles in finishing

first in the Less Stressful Class and an amazing 11th overall.

According to his bride Wendy Crockett who finished 5th overall-"I may

have created a monster!"

Our unofficial Hopeless Class rider Matt Oehler, a first time rally

rider, rode a 1988 Honda NX250 1094 miles.

Well done Iggy :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

WC, why so many DNF's? Was there a central DNF theme or just a bunch of random failures of different varieties?

A variety of reasons. Accidents, not enough mileage or points, not getting back before 1 PM. The Unlimited class required at least 1300 miles ridden, so that may have been the reason for some.

There was a minimum mileage of 1300 miles. For 32 hours that would be a Saddle Sore pace.....but two-laners in Montana and national parks full of people made it a hard one to do.

It was talked about how hard it would be on the upper end to do a BBG pace....and I agree. By comparison...I averaged more miles per day in my last 3 day Utah 1088.

Here's my route. Circles are small points, squares medium, and triangles larger. Green is 24 hour, yellow is daylight, and red are special hours. Also are some pins of various colors that represent start, midpoint, and end of "routes" you had to snag all three of to score. I ended up doing 6 of the 8 routes offered.

I was a tad bit concerned when all of the other bikes infront and behind me at the beginning turned northward, and only me and the other Matt (a local riding a 250cc DS bike for the rally) took off south.
Ditto. Earls was behind me and took a left....and if he goes the other direction as you....it's disconcerting. However, I think the southern Idaho stuff was a good choice. Some didn't realize how fast of roads are down there. ;)

Great ride, Matt.

I didn't even look at the Big Sheep route because I wasn't interested in doing dirt. I was there for fun and that didn't fall into the fun category for me.

Here was my SPOT track.

My problem was that Glacier took way longer than I was allowing and therefore torpedoed my chance to complete the "Corners" combo bonus by bagging Westby. I would have been a minimum of 30 minutes late, and likely more due to traffic/construction, if I had gone for it from Scobey. So there went >3100 points out the window. But hey, I'll take 2nd over a DNF any day. :)

Thanks for posting. Sounds like some great riding routes.

Congrats Iggy it looks to be a new streak has begun. Congrats to all who rode.

There was a certain Florida rider with a 09 FJR, any word on him?

Hope this becomes a lock for an yearly rally. What a beautiful area!
Yes, congrats to Matt, and to Mike in the new to sport class!

I was behind Matt at the start and saw him at the first bonus location, then not again until after the rally. I also went to Idaho on the southern route. Great ride for sure and I learned alot - there's nothing like actually doing it to see what it's about.

I finished 31st overall - sure didn't set the world on fire lol - but I finished and that was my main goal. I screwed up on a couple of things didn't make the best use of the daylight hours, and I sure need to come up with some quicker ways to do certain things that would have saved time as well.

Finally got home last night so trying to get caught up on everything. I left Big Sky, MT Monday morning ~0715; did 880 miles to the CO/KS border on I-70 and stayed at a fleabag motel. The next day I had planned a 1K day but stopped at St. Louis (~700 miles) as the 100+ degrees was whippin' me plus I got there right at afternoon rush hour so stopped. I got a good nights sleep and left at 0500 hrs and did the ~1100 miles home, arriving @ midnite.

Congrats again to Matt, Jeff, Sameer and all the others that finished. I had a ball, and can say that I cant wait to do another. Only this time I will be on my new FJR and NOT on my Road Pig. I learned my lesson well, and now I get to ride my machine home to Idaho. If any of the PNW riders want to hook up and do some riding in NW Montana or BC around Kootenay lake........send me a pm. I love to ride and now I have a cornering machine! Looking forward to my next rally. Meeting all those IBA celebreties was sure an honor. There is nothing like receiveing your SS1K from Mr. Kneebone himself.......and Warchild; I STILL HAVE THE BOLT!!! Tyler in N. Idaho.

Awesome job Tyler, and congrats to you as well on finishing AND on your new ride! I hope my advice was helpful. I'll let you know when I am ever back that way.

Another Win Matt, keep the string going, Congratulations to you and all that rode in the first GBU.
