You're a bad man Don. Beerme did that last IBR with more than a few riders. Sneaking up on them sans lights, then holding up a sign that said something like "Say hi to Mike for me!" or some other motivational statement. Poor Skooter needs to focus at this point and get-R-done.

You're right, Eric; I won't call HotRodZilla. Skooter is in really great spirits, we just shot the breeze about things in general.

Just got my 2nd phone call from SkooterG. 1st was last night at 2100 and he was still packing. Rolling through Santa Rosa, New Mexico as we speak!
God, I just thought of something really wicked and nasty. I have got HotRodZilla's cell phone number. I ought to call AJ and see if he is operating his Albuquerque police unit right now. Skoot wouldn't recognize "El Zilla" in his police uniform.

Classic photograph would be Skooty on The Dirty Old Whore being lit up with lights and sirens by Albuquerque PD on I-40!!!
Do it...I double-dog-dare you

He should be in good spirits, a solid day of riding and he's made it to the next state! ;) He'll be in Spartanburg in no time.

This should prove to be a very interesting IBR. Skoot and Iggy have experience now, and there are others too that are looking good. Despite Iggy's "I just want to finish safely" crap, the boy will ride to win, as will Skoot. The weather is going to suck from the looks of things, hurricanes and tropical storms are lined up big time.

Good luck! Can't wait to cheer you on!

I've dreamed about the IBR for years and hope to get in some day. I'm not holding my breath given the high bar to entry these days but you never know!

There's a whole lotta stuff in that post. Let me try and digest the points.

 • I'm trying to make sense of Skooter's ride here.....he left at 3 a.m. on a 1500 mile ride. By my calcs that's an easy 24 hour ride for the boy...yet he says he won't be in until 7 to 10 a.m.? He must have had to stop for some sleep or something.
 • You caught me on my finish safely thing....it is subjective and dependent on how deep my fangs are buried. ;)
 • How does Lisa get hurricanes and massive continental rain storms to happen like this!? I hope Bill blows his load before Monday......

I guess "no sleeping on the job" would be sound advice. But, not sure how you do 11,000 miles in 11 days without a little drowsiness creeping up on ya real quiet like. You da man, or you have masochistic tendencies and an "Iron Butt!" Best of luck.

A. Skoot gets lost if he loses focus. No rally, no Cognoscente event, no focus. ;)

B. Subjective is fine, that's called survival. But if they ask you red pill, blue pill, I suspect which one you'll take. YOU will do what's best for YOU. I expect nothing less. I have noticed a small competitive streak in you though. :D

C. LL is the Antichrist. I thought you knew that.

@MHR - It's not the 11 days or the 11k miles, it's the sick bonus locations and requirements that makes it tough.

Good luck with the weather (but "Bill" is headed Bermuda way) so all should be clear on that account. As far as 30 to 40 percent showers/thundershowers, that's normal from June till October so I wouldn't sweat that much (just the cost of doing business around here).

Hope you all have a safe ride and bring the FJR's to the top of the class.

Ok Im sure Im just not seeing it but where the hell does one find the info on the present rally, stats, routes etc.?

I wanna be a spectator too just too stupid to find the info.

been all over the IBA web site but everything there is old news.

They were in frikin bon terre? its like 45 minutes from here. ****.

The Iron Butt Rally has not started yet. It starts on Monday the 24th. There is no route, each rider will create their own route based on what bonus locations they choose to go to. That's part of the challenge. This is a big scavenger hunt by motorcycle, not a race with one route for everyone.

There are checkpoints where you will have an opportunity to see the riders in one place. There will be an official IBA daily report of sorts on the IBA web site. HERE under 2009, but it's not up yet and will probably only go live just prior to the start.

The start is in Spartanburg, SC

Checkpoint 1. is in St. Charles, IL

Checkpoint 2, is in Santa Ana, CA

The finish is in Spokane, WA

For details beyond that, check the IBA web site once it's showing info for the 2009 IBR.

Thank you OCfjr I was confused (not that that's unusual) with several posts saying they were gonna meet up with riders etc.

I was thinking how the hell does everyone know where these guys are gonna be ahead of time.

It is as I thought it was. thank you.

Good luck guys

I am not positive, but I think that Jerry White did a Spot intercept on Matt and Greg near Metropolis, Illinois.

Jerry was stopping and taking pictures of the Superman Statue and Billboard-but no Rally Flag-so no points.

I think he was killing time to let Matt and Greg catch up so that he could get them in his sights.

Maybe. Jerry passed them up though and is ahead of them now. But Matt's back on top of Greg...
