Thank you, all, for the repair methods.

Question: Do I need to bind it at all, for fear of some kind of major failure along the fault? In other words, any reason I shouldn't just leave it alone (after snapping the two halves in place)? I don't much care what it looks like. The bike's already pretty scratched up.

if you are going to leave it alone, drill a small (1/8") hole at the end of the crack. This will stop the crack from spreading.
