Congratulations Michelle, very happy to see you residing in The West!
fjrchik, If you need any inside information on either Orange or San Luis Obispo Counties, don't hesitate to contact me at either [email protected] or 480-440-4666. I was born in Orange (1948) at St. Joseph's Hospital and stayed in Orange until I joined the Army in 1968. Moved to Morro Bay in 1971 and remained there until 2 decades ago. Just sold off my last rental property in SLO CO in 2009. I do know that there is a Forum Member up over the Cuesta Grade in Creston, but he is a Real Candy Butter!

I was just at Mr Candy Butt's place during my Mem weekend trip out there. Stayed with Duff for most of it, those are the peeps I was referring to in my last post. One of my gfs that I grew up with lives in Orange so I'll be getting to know that area too I'm sure. You get to show me Arizona sometime after the heat blows off!! I'll be callin you Phoenix peeps for the grand tour! ;)

My Sisters Marsha and Mary, and my Mom Veda (age 91!), live within 8 blocks of the Historic Orange Plaza. So chances are I will see you before that, when Seth goes over to Orange to see his Grammy and his Aunties!

Excellent, definitely give me a shout when your in the neighborhood!

Good luck out there! But can you quit hatin' on Texas so much? It's a big ol' state, and I wouldn't think of living in the Metroplex, either. All the liberals live in Austin, ; if you were going to live in Texas, you should have figured that out long ago!

I'm sorry you felt that little quip was hating on Texas, it's really the only thing I've said in a long time because I actually don't hate Texas. I get that it is what it is. I have been much happier in Frisco than I was in Fort Worth which taught me that hating Texas was pointless. It's either a fit or it's not, my Frisco life was better but still lacking in several important departments. And I get that Austin may suit me even better but it's still flat, hot, dry, lonely Texas. I have a much bigger circle of family and friends out in Cali than I could ever put together anywhere here. So since the job fell apart and my apartment complex was sold to a much bigger one and I was able to transfer, it just all seemed so easy. It's almost scary how things just lined up and fell in place but the same thing happened when I wanted to move here so I know it doesn't guarantee happiness. I appreciate your good luck wishes. ;)

Hot and dry, I'll give you this summer, but if you think it's flat and lonely in Austin and Central Texas, you've never been here! Good luck, text me from your next traffic jam! ;)

Good luck Michelle, well done! Glad you're happy. :clapping: :clapping:

I grew up in The Valley and lived in Whoremosa Beach and Westminster. I'd move back this afternoon if it weren't for the cost of living and the conjestion. But you're used to that from the Metromess and now you can split lanes!!! Just be careful!

Sister Michelle, When you get out West: SkooterG, Arte Montoya, Wolfhound and Papa Chuy will take you out to our favorite CW bar up in Scottsdale, Arizona.

We will put Brother Mac Davis on the jukebox and the six of us will all sing together!

Texas In My Rearview Mirror (1980)

I was just fifteen and out of control lost to James Dean and rock and roll

I knew down deep in my country soul that I had to get away

Hollywood was a lady in red who danced in my dreams as I tossed in bed

I knew I’d wind up in jail or dead if I have to stay

I thought happiness was Lubbock Texas in my rearview mirror

My mama kept calling me home but I just did not want to hear her

And the vision was getting clearer in my dream

So I let out one night in June stoned on the glow of the Texas moon

Humming an old Buddy Holly tune called Peggy Sue (pretty, pretty Peggy Sue)

With my favorite jeans and a cheap guitar I ran off chasing a distant star

If Buddy Holly could make it that far then I figured I could too

I thought happiness was Lubbock Texas in my rearview mirror

My mama kept calling me home but I just did not want to hear her

And the vision was getting clearer in my dream

But the Hollywood moon didn’t smile the same old smile that I’d grown up with

The lady in red just wanted my last dime

And I cried myself to sleep at night too dumb to run too scared to fight

And too proud to admit it at the time

So I got me some gigs on Saturday night not much more than orchestrated fights

I’d come home drunk and I tried to write but the words came out all wrong

Hell bent and bound for a wasted youth too much gin and not enough vermouth

And no one to teach me to seek the truth before I put an end to this song

I still thought happiness was Lubbock Texas in my rearview mirror

My mama kept calling me home but I just could not, would not hear her

And the vision was getting clearer in my dream

Well I thank God each and every day for giving me the music and the words to say

I’d never had made it any other way he was my only friend

Now I sleep a little better each night and when I look in the mirror in the morning light

The man I see was both wrong and right he’s going home again

I guessed happiness was Lubbock Texas in my rearview mirror

But now happiness was Lubbock Texas growing nearer and dearer

And the vision was getting clearer in my dream

And I think I finally know just what it means

And when I die you can bury me in Lubbock Texas in my jeans

That's funny Don, love it!

Thanks Jeff! It was great getting to know you and Mrs at SFO all those years! Let me know when your in the area next time.

I'm a 4th gen OC native, and my wife was also born in Fullerton. Check out Brea's Best Burgers (Brea Blvd and Fir St), also Giovanni's on Imperial and Harbor Blvds. The best Texas BBQ place I found in Cali is the Oak Pit; its on the road from Ventura to Ojai, so take the bike and make a day of it. I also miss Wingnuts (three locations, Costa Mesa, Aliso Viejo and Ontario); they have the best wings of any place I've been. Don't spend too much time in Anaheim, its a division of the Walt Disney Company
