I'm on vacation this coming week - where to ride?

Other than a few hours on Tuesday (while the bike gets it's 4,000 mile oil change), I'm hoping to have loads of time to do some riding this week coming!

Make with the ideas my fine cycling friends...

Nothing set in stone yet, so I'm hoping for options to match up with sunny days.

Weatherman cannot seem to get his act together with any degree of certainty, could be we could put a day together during midweek. What do you consider comfortable mileage for a days putt?

If you do not mid a long Ride Death Valley is still under 100* F. Many of the passes are open as well if wan to do a loop and stay local. The tulips are still doing well in Skagit.

Head north, up towards the border. Many, many 250 - 300 mile scenic loops that can be put together. Run over N.Cascade, lunch in Twisp and either return the same way or make the loop back over Stevens. With any luck, you can double the bike's total mileage next week. Might be snow on higher passes though, take chains.

I'm going to do the 3 Pass Blast next Saturday 4/8 with the PNW Sport Touring Meetup group, there will be lots of bikes but I'm leaving ahead of the group,.Were leaving Kens truck stop in North Bend around 9:30am and having lunch in Cashmere at Country Boys BBQ and coming back on Stevens pass. FYI Hwy 20 will be bad on Tuesday.

North Cascades Highway temporary closure next Tuesday

Crews will close both lanes of State Route 20 for two hours next week to remove some unstable rocks above the highway near Marblemount.

Maintenance crews found and cleared up a small rockslide from the highway on Tuesday night, April 27. Upon further investigation, crews found more rock and debris on the hillside that could become a hazard to drivers in the near future.

Crews will close the highway at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 4, six miles east of Marblemount to safely break the material loose from the hillside and then clear it from the roadway.

Drivers should expect lengthy backups and delays. There are no detour routes. The closure and delays could be cut in half if crews can safely clean and open one lane and use flaggers to alternate traffic after bringing down the debris.
