Being an "all thumbs" type of mechanic, I am normally reluctant to tackle maintenance tasks or repairs outside my comfort zone. After watching some of the how-to videos here, I decided to give a few new things a try. I changed the air filter (no big deal), the spark plugs (the hardest part was getting the boots off the plugs) and I sync'ed the throttle bodies (!). The throttle body thing was way outside the tasks I feel comfortable with and required the purchase of the sync tool, but I got it done without too much fuss. It seems to run much crisper now. Tomorrow I bleed the brakes and clutch and flush all the old fluid, then I'll install heated grips. I've also done the throttle spring unwind, the glove box fix and insulated under the tank. Watch out !!

Congratulations!! Nothing better than accomplishing something you have never done before. Just don't get in over your head. If for some reason you do, admit it and get some help. This is a great forum. Many sharp minds here to help if ya need it. Look through the vast amount of info here. It might save time getting the help you need and make you feel better about doing it yourself. Still can't get the info? By all means ask!

Bravo sir!

Nothing like the sense of accomplishment you feel from doing it yourself. I think of everyting I've done the throttle spring unwind was the most nerve-wracking. As stated don't be afraid to ask for help if you approach your limits.

Good job! Get yourself some speed bleeders for those hydraulic fluids. You be glad you did. Makes bleeding easy peasey!

I am now empowered to do anything! I bled / flushed front and rear brakes as well as the chutch. The mity-vac was a pleasure to use. I also had the time to install the Koso Apollo heated grips. Just as I was getting ready to head out for a test ride, the skies opened up, so it will have to wait for tomorrow if the weather cooperates. I also filed a complaint with the NHTSA for the non-functioning rear ABS system.....I see that several others on this forum have done the same. I'm hoping for a recall to fix it.

Thanks, got it. Actually, the FJR throttle seems lighter than the one on my R1. I'll leave it as is.
