Now I knew that the tires were wore on the FJR after riding cross country to WCR and the down to NAFO last year.
Knowing I was going to be putting new tires and the poor job my dealer did last time was the main decision in buying my No-Mar Tire Changer.
However had I known the tires were this bad I probably would have taken an extra day while at NAFO and put on a new set there.
Front Tire
Rear Tire
I'm sure dcarver could get a few more thousand miles out of these babies since they were still holding air. On the otherhand I was somewhat concerned I had let things get this bad. Weather conditions have not been conducive to working outside I decided to brave the elements and get some work done.
I put on my Nanook of the North cap, put on my gloves, put on my parka and head out the door...
The No-Mar worked as advertised and in no time we had the tires changed...
I then set my my balancer in the kitchen since it was warmer and closer to the beer in the fridge. The advantage of having a batchelor pad is no one yells at you when you act on good ideas like this one. I got the front balanced and had it back on the bike but then it was time to go to the pub to watch the Vancouver hockey game. I should have stayed home.
I'm having a little problem getting the rear balanced but these are tires I had on the bike before. I flatted the rear just before heading out to WCR and couldn't get another PR2. I decided to put on a set of Avon Storm Ultra 2's.
The tires I mounted are the old PR2's since the patch on the rear is fine for now and I have a brand new PR2 that I will put on before CFR and will get a new PR2 for the front.
I should have everything back together today and take a run up to the dealer to pick up some new parts.
