Well, the update is....it works! Mostly. The bike starts like a Yamaha should...every time. However my bike had a red LED which lit up when the bike started, then extinguished once the bike was running. Once you stopped the bike, the LED would flash every 3 seconds for 24 hours, then went out. This was to indicate that the security system involving the immobilizer was working. Now, it stays lit when the bike is running. Once the bike is stopped, the LED stays lit but blinks off every 3 seconds. And it keeps doing this as long as the bike is parked. I've brought this to the attention of the service manager who was behind this ingenious fix. He's going to mull this over as the bike is being winterized this Saturday and we'll revisit this problem in the spring. In the mean time, the battery tender will keep things cozy.
