Well, did a test run with K-2 last weekend. 135 gets a little crowded after lunch.

It looks like the earlier the ride starts, the smoother it will be.

Here's the plan:

October 7 (Saturday) , rain date October 8 (Sunday)

9:00 am meet up at the Denny's in Columbus, IN.

NW corner of I-65 and SR46. Easy to miss cause it is so close to the off-ramp.

There is a gas station next door.

Kickstands up ~8:30. (I know its early for anyone 2 hours out, but necessary)

46 E to 135S to 58W to 446N to Bloomington. (reststop somewhere, maybe a coffee place for a quick drink)

Suggestions for a good spot close to 446 or 45 are welcome.

45E to 135S to Nashville.

Try to hit the Subway in Nashville for lunch 11:30 - 12:30. (unless I hear a better plan)

I'll be 2-up if kiddycare gets lined up. I think the same for K-2.

If there is a 1-up or another local that can lead, I'll be glad to be the sweeper.

Or if noone else feels comfy, I'll show the way.

It's a pretty simple route, 1-ups can feel free pull ahead in the fun parts.

Finding 45 in Bloomington is the only confusing part. Everything else is well marked.

If we have enough turn out for more than one group, we'll just split up accordingly.

Time to start checking the extended forcast.

Put my wife and I down as a more than likely, definite maybe :)

Yep....I'm in. We're still working on making it 2-up, but my bike will be there either way.

quicksilver,

Sounds great - this is one of our favorite routes, in fact I just rode this exact route last weekend. Count me in. My wife may ride if her foot is up to it (she should get her Bledsoe Boot off next week - fingers crossed), we'll play that by ear, otherwise we'll be 2-up.

I'm not quite sure of a quick stop to catch a drink at 446/46/45 area other than a gas station, but there is a good italian restaurant in Nashville where the food/subs are good & cheap - Harvest Moon (2 blocks east of the welcome center).

Good hearing from you - look forward to the 7th.

This look like what we're doin?

Can I/we appeal for a 9:00am kickstands up so we can get breakfast and not have to leave at 0-Dark Thirty to get there? That extra half hour will make a HUGE difference for us ;)

If not we'll survive.

KY-FJR will be coming from even further if they join in.

I'm pushing for an early start to beat the trailers going into Horse Park, on 135.

But, 1/2 hour hardly matters.

9:00 it is. :coolsmiley:

Try to drive through Nashville on a Saturday a few weeks from now.

People, who have come to gawk at the leaves changing colors in the national forest, will be curb-to-curb.

Traffic turns absolutely miserable, especially if the weather is nice. B)

We definitely want to do the ride before that big crowd arrives.

We need to beat them timewise, not necessarily beat them with a stick. :D

Brent, I got to ask you, what does "Beat the Gawkers" mean?

:( Well wish I may wish I might make a wish that will come true tonight :D

It is a great ride, Brent and I have done this a few times over the last year.

Now :dribble: everyone waste one of your wishes, that my bike will be repaired and ready for this ride!

Hope everyone has a great time!

I took a half-day off work today and re-ran this route...it is truely a GREAT ride! The loop beginning from Columbus is 114 miles/2.5 hours ride-time on great roads. Looking forward to meeting everyone...

Welcome aboard Six!!

Looks like 5-7 bikes depending on my favorite KY tandum.(not commited)

A nice sized group.

Decent Current Extended forecast:

Cloudy

High 71°F

Low 48°F

Precip. 20 % (80% chance of no rain)

A perfect day for suiting all the way up.

I'm thinking we can make it if we find a kid sitter! The other part of the tandum is really wanting to try out her new Heli's! Looks like it should be a blast!!

Great folks riding great bikes on a great day! Does it really get any better????

Unfortunately gang we cannot make it Saturday. We just found out today that we have a family function to go to (baptism for my brother's new baby girl!). I asked Christy if we could skip and she said "NO"!!!! I tried! I thought my priorities were in line...

You guys have a great time! If anyone is up to it, we plan on going for a ride on Sunday!!! We have a kid sitter!

Ride safe!

Wait, he's your brother, he'd understand... Can't they just video tape that? Kids get dunked in water all the time. I have (4) I know. :)

Good luck.. I can promise you this, we'll have more fun than you :yahoo:

I went to CFO in Sparta a couple of weeks ago and WheatonFJR suggested I contact you for other Hoosier riders. I would like to join your group this Saturday. I live in Crown Point, so it will take me about 3 hours to get there, but it would be worth it to ride with some other FJRs in Indiana.
