I'm looking to accomplish another IBA ride, just a baby step up from my one (successful) SS1000 last June which included 3 states.

Have looked at a route that stays inside my home state of Looziana that has an advantage to be all interstate. Would be a run in the shape of a "C" and a there and back route.

I looked for rules/regulations/info on the IBA site and can find nothing mentioning a specific "in state" ride.

I'm looking for reassurance that the only difference here is the route be entirely inside a state (sorry Rhode Island !!!).

I have buddies who are interested in accomplishing a SS1000, but would like me with a bit of experience to go along as a bit of a mentor.

I thought it would be more interesting to do a slightly different ride than previous and offer another to ride along and enjoy it with me.

I wish to eventually make a BB1500Gold attempt.

I also am obnoxious to a fault and wish to accomplish at least 30k miles since my engine was replaced and I was back on the road Dec 6, 2009. Same with Jan 1 through Dec 31. I've documented the starting mileage on both of those goals.

Want to ride lots more this year.

There are no special rules for an in-state SS. Just ride it and notate that it was all in LA when you submit the paperwork. They'll note it on the website and in your cert. Good luck and have fun!!

Just remember they will verify your ride as a direct route from each documented stop you make, so be sure to get a dated receipt with location at every corner. Also note your odometer reading on the receipt. Good luck.

Consider yourself reassured.

If, however, you want complete peace-of-mind....you should really review the IBA forum. It's going to be a farm more definitive source (especially if Ira Agins says something) than this place. ;)

From reading the rules, so long as you don't go back and forth on the same route too many times (Daytona to Jax multiple times...from their example) and document the turn around point (as with other "corners" in the route), I think you'd be fine.

EDIT, just saw your latest post. They DO mention the "there and back" routes in the SS1000 rules and it's ok as long as it's well documented.

I'm looking at doing my own SS1000 sometime this winter.

Blatant thread hijack

I did an all Ontario ride in July. I made sure I got timestamped reciepts at each corner, even though I didn't need gas.

I wonder what the processing time for certs is running. Mine went out the first week of Aug. No big whoop, but if I haven't heard anything by Dec I'll start being concerned.

from IBA forum:

The in-state SS1Ks are simply regular SS1Ks done completely within a state.

it is important to note it's an "in-state" ride within X state on the documentation

it seems to me, for us old geezers who really feel they shouldn't attempt extreme rides, that multiple individual in-state SS1000's in different states made maybe quarterly would be a satisfying accomplishment as well as my goal of riding as far as reasonable each year. Each state being a different "trophy" kind of ride.

Just remember NO crossing into another state for any reason and you will do just fine. I crossed over during a LOE Rally ride so it was only a SS. The next year I rode entirely within New Mexico for an in state SS1K. Enjoy !!!

Mike,

My first SS1000 was up I-95, west on I-10 till I hit 575 miles, then back the same route.

I never left Florida and got fuel often (especially at corners) for proof of route. I just wanted

the SS1000 so I could do a 100CCC two weeks later. I had never studied the rules, butt my

ride was listed as a "In state". I guess submitting a map of Florida with the route must of tipped

them off it was an "in state" Lucky I guess?

Tony
