Just got my '07 last week, gonna register it today. Where is a good place to put the TEXAS inspection sticker? Anyone just throw it in a bag?

Do the Texas LEO ever look for that sticker? In NY they frequently setup road blocks just to look at inspection stickers. Put it where they can see it easily and there is less chance they'll ask about those loud pipes, radar detector, or whatever.

Stealerships around here, place the inspection sticker on the upper left front fork tube, between the triple clamps. The Gen-II bikes have a decreased diameter fork tube that allows the sticker to be placed there and the forks can still be removed without damaging the sticker.

Most states have an 'inspection sticker on the front left' rule. I believe that in some if not all areas of TX they want the sticker on the back license plate area. Odot? What say?

Here in New England riders are not allowed to touch the hallowed inspection sticker, it gets affixed by the inspection shop, in a solemn and expensive ritual with all manor of documentation and certifications.

the inspection sticker goes below the rear license plate in TX. Mine is stuck on the black plastic lower fender.

I'm in Houston and mine is between the liscence plate and the red reflector on the back of the bike.

Sorry, don't have an inspection sticker as my license plate was stolen last year with the inspection sticker on it. It was just underneathe the plate but it ain't no more. On my harley I used to put it on the back side of the stainless steel rock reflector I attached to my handlebars. Never been pulled over for them not being able to see it and I doubt they ever will. Heck, put it on one of the inner plastic panels where the forks go through. As long as you have it you'll be ok. Just don't blame me if you get pulled over for it not being visible to the leos.

In Maine we don't apply the sticker on the bike. Ya just have to have it with you...in wallet, plastic bag with registration and insurance card, etc.

A news report recently said that only about 20% of bike owners actually get a new sticker when due, according to comparisons between registrations and inspections.

You only need it when you get pulled over.

Thanks for all the feedback. I think I am going to mock up a plate that fits on the bottom of the plate, just for when I get it inspected. After the new sticker is applied, I'll pull the plate and throw it in a bag....

added a stainless plate to left side of license for mine as I cut the fender hang down off and didnt have room to mount under the plate-I asked the inspection place where it needed to be-just about anywhere he indicated I could carry in wallet if I wanted I think needs to be seen to prevent the unwanted traffic stop and 52 questions by officer unfriendly.

I stick it onto one of those aluminum tangs that bike shops sell for just that purpose. I then toss it in the saddle bag. The last time, the shop wouldn't let me stick it onto the tang in the bag, I had to install the tang under the tag and they they'd place the sticker. I then donned my gear, rode to the end of their parking lot, pulled to the side, removed the tang and placed it in the saddle bag.

HEY! It blocks my Iron Butt Rally and Mass Gold plate frames!

Never been hassled after all these years. Been stopped once or twice (in TX and in another state or two) and it's never come up in the conversation. But then I've had a run where I got 5 warnings in a 1-week trip that covered 8 states. If they were to insist, I'd put it on like I did for the shop.

My dealer here in Houston has a plate that attaches behind the license plate that holds the sticker well. They come in flat black, stainless, and gloss black. If you want to paint it to match the bike, use PPG W-4 paint with a little extra black mixed in to match better. PPG here will blend to match a aprt you bring in to the. I took off a mirror as it only takes a 10 or 12 metric to remove.

Hope this helps.

In Texas, must be visible, it can be mounted on the swingarm or chain cover etc., its just supposed to be visible. Mine is on one of those liscence plate tangs under the plate.....and its only two years out of date....unless the LEO rides they dont even look...the last one that pulled me over, for a wittle bitty wheelie...didnt write me one because he had never seen a " Beemer" do a wheelie !!!! So I guess its one of those you pays as you goes thangs !

Ride On !!!

Bobby
