Well, just got back from his sendoff/30th birthday party at a local pub. Mmmmm, Newcastle and birthday cake....

One of the most real people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting, gotta say it's an honor to be considered a friend to a guy who got bored with being a superhero, so he decided to go ply the high seas in search of uncharted adventure.

Five to ya, Shane....

Whatever happened to that "Pirate" guy?

I fully understand and applaud his decision. Ever read https://advrider.com/ threads? Los of guys have the juevos to sell *everything* and just go. His decision is on water, not over land. I say "hats off, and congrats!"

Maybe someday I'll grow me a set..

One word, Dramamine. That and a great time only lived once. And I bet if he wants another fire job with that experience he could get one, just won't have the same senority probablly. It could be worth it. PM. <>< :yahoo:

...but I pick inspirational. YMMV
An engineer at our department, with eight years on the job, just resigned because the City refused to grant him a one-year leave of absence to be a deck hand on an around-the-world sailboat journey.

One thing's for sure- He will carry along the best wishes for a successful journey and prayers for safe passage from those of us left behind, and some of us will be a bit jealous, like the seagulls left behind by Jonathan Livingston.

Luckily for me, I'm already livin' my dream....some people dream bigger than others.

Bravo. That is the way to do life. Sounds like someone who really "gets it". They are so rare.
