I bought a trunk second hand and they couldn't find the instructions. Does anyone have a link to the installation instructions? Also, I hate to drill the plastic to mount it. Any suggestions on that?

Thanks!!!

:p

Wow! What a knucklehead I am. :(

Sorry about the lack of details. I have been looking for instructions and know all the options, so I should've provided more info.

I have a 2003 FJR with no mods done. The trunk and mounting bracket are the Yamaha brand (links below). I need some info on how to install the mounting bracket and options as far as drilling plastic.

Trunk:

Mounting Bracket:

And Backrest:

Thanks!

You don't have to drill to mount the bracket, you pull the 3 screws that hold the original tail down then put bracket on the tail, the kit should have longer screw that came with it.

When you mount the backrest pad you will need to do some drilling. There is a bushing that comes with the pad kit, the lower holes need this. You will see that there are some plugs on the inside of the lower part of the lid pull them out and put the bushing in and drill the holes. In the top of the lid as I recall they are pre marked some how I remember that the screws that came with the kit where a bit short so I counter sunk them a little. I recommend that you get longer screw as the plastic is soft and can suck the counter sink in very quickly.

There also was a recall on the bracket once you get it mounted go to the local dealer and make sure you have the up dated stuff.

Uh, I think you do need to drill holes in the tail on an 03. The 06 and newer bikes had the three bolts exposed, but I'm pretty sure the Gen I bikes need to be drilled.

AFAIK
