Got an 07... What's the trick for removing the stock bar ends?? I have the actual bar ends off, but trying to remove the plug inside the handle bar.

Won't budge!!!

Thottlemiester should've come with a tube that you put up against the bar and then put the stock bar end back on with longer bolt. As you tighten the bolt, it pulls the isolator out into the tube. Some times you really have to crank on it hard!

I'm guessing you got the proper adapter kit for the FJR....

If so, there should have been a piece in the kit for removing the stock plug from inside the handlebar ends. It is just a small piece of metal tubing where the OD rests on the end of the handlebar. Just make sure you line up the tube on the end of the handlebar.

I can't rememeber all of the specific names/parts noted in the directions, but you then use a supplied bolt and washer to pull the inner stock plug out of the handlebar ends. The plug will in turn be replaced by the parts from Throttlemeister. I believe it is also noted, and helpful when removing the stock plugs, to make sure the piece of tubing is well lubed with something like liquid detergent to cut down on the resistance when removing.

I used the same Heavy end weights that I had on my Triumph, and just got the adapter kit for the FJR. It did help cut down on some of the high frequency ringing. Hope this helps.

NEVERMIND!!

always helps when you read the instructions. TM comes with a little ring you are suppose to use for pulling the stock insert.

thanks guys!

yeah that's the one I'm talking about.

Throw out the wimpy hex socket screw that is used to pull the plug out of the bar. Get a bolt and get a good wrench on it and it will come out. I only did the throttle side. No reason to do both.

Hey guys...Are u saying u can take out that threaded insert inside the handlebar(after you take off the end cap)?? If so, with them out can u find endcaps that insert without that threaded piece?? Just wondering...MAY HAVE A GOOD IDEA FOR HEATING THE HANDGRIPS....

ANYONE KNOW?

THANKS FELLAS

Yes, you can remove the threaded inserts with a special puller. As for what you put back in, well, you're on your own there. It would depend on what hardware you have in mind for heating the grips. Either way, I'd think you'd still want to have some bar ends, at the "end" of the day.

Sorry for the lousy pun.

I found hand warmers that insert into handle bars. As long as the interior of the bar allows for a 5/8 inch insert?? Thats why I was wondering if there are after market bar ends that attach another(rubber commpression) way OR could you re-insert the piece you pulled out and use the stockers.?? They are only $30 and include all the wiring stuff and a 3 way switch(off, low,hi).

BRAINSTORMING.................................................

The Throttlemeister comes with the puller and the replacement.

Throttlemeister at SportbikeEffects.com

Leave them in and toss the throttle meisters away. Pure crap....

Youll see

Sometimes the stock piece that you pull out gets damaged during removal. But I suppose you could order new inserts from Yamaha, thus allowing you to retain the stock bar ends if that's what you wanted.

Sorry bro, gotta disagree. I use the throttlemeister and I'm much more happy with it than any of the plastic crapola thumb type throttle locks I've used. Each to their own, I guess. I bought the heavy style TM's in polished stainless. VERY tasty appearance and more weight to help kill vibes, which never hurts. Yes, they work differently, and took some getting used to, but I didn't find it too hard to adapt. Proper installation and adjustment are essential, but once done right, they hold their adjustment for a long time. Just my .02.

I have had the Throttlemeisters for about 8 months now and I like them. . . I would say love but they dont hold the position for too long. Any suggestions? I used the loc tite, but still it holds for about 10 seconds then slowly winds down.

Help!

You should have received some shims with the unit. If not, a visit to the hardware store would take care of it. You did pull the rubber plugs in the handlebars, right?

Jeez Jeff, I don't remember anymore. I am sure I installed OK. No parts left over, but I don't remember any rubber plugs. Haha I do remember the step about tighten the throttle but it never seemed to lock the throttle good. I was worried about stripping the hex bolt at the end of it.

Jeff, I am going to send you a separate email I need you help again with the Starcom. I never did what you told me to do and I forget what you said now to fix it.
