I have a set of tach and speedo instrument panel Overlays I need installed on my 05. Their are some great write ups I am looking for that I have read before. It also discusses installing led lights which I also have and want to install.

Are you looking for Ignatio's 'how to'? I have this one bookmarked: https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php?showtopic=100352

This link kamal is very helpful!

blueman, when you will have your instrument panel open in your hand after all this work i believe it is very easy to change the gauges..You must pull carefully the needles and after you must unscrew the four screws, two per gauge. When you will install the new don't tight very much the screws, somewhere i have read it is better to put under of the screws thin plastic washers that you can make from clear plastic sheet like the plastic film for protect the camera's screen or a like that..

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!! Just what I needed for the leds and gauges. Now all I need are the write ups on getting to the instrument panel.
Read the links more grasshopper. There is a link to one of those write-ups in one of the pages.

Kamal is proving to be a big asset here.. Those Kanadian kamels are far more helpful than their eastern counterparts..

None Fred.. It's cold as Odies nipples during seal hunting season right now..

As they are purported to be water storage vessels. they would freeze harder than Bill's head this time of year..

New overlays installed.. Also installed Blue LED's. I really like the way they came out. Call it anal but it always bugged me a little looking at the stock overlays with those funny little warts that develop around the screws, I looked at quit a few FJR'S and found that mine was by far not the only one with this miner cosmetic ailment. I think that the warts have to be heat related. The screws getting hot from the sun and transferring the heat to the overlays.

Any how see what you think.

They look very nice in the bike!!Could you please post some informations about this job,the steps..how easy or difficult is to remove the needles? And if on the oem overlays is it easy to repaired the warts?if you drop some glue under the warts or if you will push the warts are they fixed?,or if you blow hot air on these are they fixed?Did you tried to fix these warts?Or finaly these warts can't repaired?

Edit.

Could you take a picture how they look when you sit on your saddle?

I did not install them my self. I had what I consider an ace cycle tech do it. This was his first FJR he has done. And I supplied him with the excellent information given on this forum. From removing the panels ect to opening the gauges. I did not have information and could not give him information on removing the needles. I had faith he could do that. He did a flawless job of installation. I looked at doing it my self. But what I figured would take me 12 hours and six trips to the cycle shop he could do in two or three hours and do it RIGHT!. The more I look at them the more I like the way they turned out. And the blue LED's look great at night. It was difficult getting the overlays and I am not sure if you can get them any more. I ordered and received them about a year ago and finally got a chance to get them installed. Pic's of the way soon

They really look awesome in your bike!!!

The colour of your overlays matching perfect with the blue color of your bike!!!

Excellent job!!!i believe wouldn't be nothing better from these overlay's colour!!!

Thanks for the info!

One tip I've read many places but never used myself is to use two spoons to pop the needle off. Get them in under the base on the sides away from the actual needle with the bowls against the face of the speedo and then use equal leverage on either side to pop them off. Doesn't work for every speedo out there but works on most of the apparently.

I have seen a video and he pulled the needle with a spoon very easy..

Thanks for the positive feedback. I am still very impressed how well they turned out. Its to bad you have to go though a "triple bia pass" to get to the qauges. I think I will ride down to bike night and show then off.
